Online texas holdem poker rooms are probably the safest place to play at right now. Did your mother ever tell you to "never trust a stranger"? Well, playing online limits the number of sneaky people you could potentially be dealing with. The dealer is a program. Programs don't cheat. You don't have to worry about any sort of illegal card handling. There are no "cards" online.
Many poker players refuse to play online becaue of a fear of "hackers". In fact there are websites that claim they can either "see their opponents' pocket cards" or "see the turn and river before they are dealt". You should know that most of these sites are total garbage and I'm only saying "most" for legal reasons. Please visit our online poker safety page for more information. The big instance of an online poker room having security problems opened the eyes of the operators and now top sites are now so excessively secure that it's almost wasteful. Not only is the technical security present but all the measures you'd expect in a brick-and-mortar casino.
The most common form of online cheating is player collusion. That's when two or more players reveal to each other what cards they hold. This form is more difficult to pull off in a live game, but playing online gives players the chance to have a fellow player on the phone with them, or sitting next to them at another computer.
Fortunately most of these players are the ones who have no idea how to use that advantage. These two must coordinate well together, which takes practice. Online poker rooms not only look for telltale signs of collusion, but check to see if two players always play at the same table together. They would have to use "hit and run" tactics when using this form of cheating. Colluding players would have to hit up a high-limit table, then flee to another online poker room with their winnings and never look back.
To make a long story short, it is barely worth it to try it. But just in case, here are some things to look for...
1. A team of players who try to "steamroll" other players out of the game. This means reraising each other to make non-colluding players call multiple bets at once.
2. Players who never play fast preflop. That's the time to talk about what they hold. Watch whoever is under the gun and be mindful of reaction time.
3. A group of players who hike up bets by reraising with someone in between them. This gets the maximum amount of bets out of a third party. The alarm should really go off if one of those reraising players has a piss poor hand, or if one of them folds with one bet to go despite a massive pot. There's a time to bluff and a time to fold and most people have an idea when that is, so be on the lookout for players who exercise horrible judgement like that. Either identify that person as a potential goldmine for yourself or a potential cheater.
Once again, it's VERY rare for someone to even attempt these sort of things. Still, never accuse anyone of cheating. Either contact the poker room's administrators or just get up and leave. Online poker rooms like PartyPoker have thousands of tables going on at once, so you have options.

What I don't get is when you're sitting at a table, playing with someone for a fairly long time (lets say 2+ hours), they play soogood until you wake up with a monster (AA or KK) and they donk ship it pre-flop (obviously you call) and they turn over something retarded like 7-3 or J-6 and then they spike trips on the flop, or a runner runner straight. I wouldent assume there was cheating going on if it didn't happen as often as it does. I find it VERY hard to believe there are so many solid players out there who just happen to donk the F out against me (after playing such a solid game for HOURS) when I wake up with a monster and then they suck out. It really does amaze me how much that crap happens online, and how scarcely rare it is live. Whenever I play at the casino nearmy place, of course I run into donks and suck out, but they never pull the kind of crap online players do. Never once have I had a person at the table play like a nit for 2 hours then completley lose thier minds and donk snap ship it all in pre-flop with nothing just to suck out against my poket aces. Litterally not once has it ever happend live, and it's an every day thing it seems online. To think people wouldent cheat on the low stakes is naieve. There's money to be made and people EXPECT donkage at low stakes so how would you ever get caught doing it?

Yea, right ... they are coluding in 25 $ Bankrollmob Freeroll to get 3 $ after 4 hours of playing....that's really spectacular plan. That reminds me on Olsen Gang, but as a Canadian you probably don't know them.

That's quit a large list you post here, but as you mention it, that's only the top of the iceberg. Those players use multiple accounts and play very aggresive until they get a big stack with one of their accounts. That explains the fact that some players call with hands they should have folded preflop

ya those multi account dudes really make me think that hookerstars really tolerate them- i mean how the fcuk can you have 10 account playing in the same tourney on the same pc? or those funny dudes who switch between accounts when lost/doubled up on one account (without even taking a bigger break)...i had one "savvy" dude who had 2 accounts on the same table in the same tourney...he was switching back and forth in front of my eyes...one account goes "sitting out" another one comes back...and so on it's not that hard to catch and ban them is it? (jess maybe you can elaborate here?), since if this cannot be done, then why the hell should we believe at integrity of games at higher stakes?

You just have to look through the players lists in freerolls...
BankrollMob tourneys are really bad,....but the WORST are to be found in the EPTLive or UKIPTLive tourneys! Hubble and the like also have a lot of cheaters!
It just doesn't matter how many you report to PokerStars,...they remove them, and withing days there's tons more...
That's why I keep referring to them as COCKROACHES... No matter HOW MANY you stomp on and kill,...there's all new ones back the next day... and PokerStars has NO interest in doing ANYTHING to prevent it

wow, how long did it take to compile this list! he must be trawling the sites looking for these names. i believe that online poker is the safest way to go. love playing on party poker and have never thought anything untoward was going on {despite loads of river bets badbeats!}

no surprise to see that many number of romanians in that list. thats why eastern europe is excluded from different no-deposits and reffer a friend and from any promos at reliable casinos. makes me puke living here, having no relation with romanian faith, traditions or behavior but only language and probably my blood. always going to get bad beats but i think there is still alot of cheats out there,i would say,look for patterns in the play and keep an eye on the chat,if there is something wrong then contact the poker site.....cheats ruin all games....gl on the felts mobsters..

I guess this thread was perfect for demo to post up that list again. Demo, i remember on another thread on which you posted it i told that maybe you should forward it to stars to do some background checks on it. Did you do it?
It would very interesting to see what action will stars will take against them.
