I found some sites who buy and sell playmoney chips on Pokerstars,Fulltilt and others. My question is:Why would they buy playmoney chips?Price is $4/1million chips,or it's a scam.

yeah i've seen a few of them as well...back in the days when p(.)kerstars were not offering to buy play money chips directly from them, those site operated semi legally, they had some clients who wanted to play with millions, but didn't feel like investing much time into accumulating such amounts themselves...nowadays p(.)kerstars states this: "Chips can only be purchased through the ‘Purchase Play Money Chips’ option. Selling or buying Play Money chips from other players or sites is prohibited"...
I think the idea is that high stakes playmoney has a better level of players, because they can't just reload every time they go bust and play at those levels (unless they buy chips).
A few years ago I played for playmoney on my phone (I did not want to do real money games on a phone), up to about 160.000 chips, and the level of play did get better on higher stakes (but not by a lot). Maybe the level of play gets decent at the million+ stakes?
But if you're going to pay $4 for 1 million chips, I'd rather play NL2 with it...

Well you have to be crazy to pay for playchips...
But I heard stories of people that bought chips to play poker on facebook (which had also no value) If you wanne play with playmoney, no problem with that, but there are so many fishes there it s easy to win there ... so just play solid poker and your playmoney bankroll will rise... and it will cost you nothing...
On the other hand if I had no money I would rather play freerolls that with playmoney...

This thread remind me when I sold 8 million of play chips for 20 bucks .
In my case I use to play with playmoney. I build a nice bankroll and when I was playing a S&G one guy asked in the chat if someone wanted to sell playchips.
He transferred to me the real money and therefater I tranferred my playchips to him. Few weeks later I realized that selling playmoney is not allowed by PS.

They are not scam, in fact this buisness exploded after back friday of poker when all US players could not play anymore for real money on stars or ftp.
They liked the sites and they were tempted to play with play money on high stakes PL tables.
Still i remember some fishy sites did not pay the sellers of play money chips.
