Beer mixed with tomato juice ???  +1
Hello Mobsters,

I open this thread because I am very curious do you usually drink beer mixed with tomato juice Question

I worked many years in the past as a bartender, but only once in my bartender career US people ordered me that strange drink. I mean a lot of nationalities I met, but only US people drink this Question

Or may be I am wrong Confused Others nationalities drink that mix Confused I think this is very strange for europenas.

Let's notice that the cocktail "Bloody Mary" is vodka mixed with tomato juice and some spices, but it is NOT beer mixed with tomatoe juice!

I will be glad to hear your answers! Smile

Depends on the individual some like/use beer/tomato juice others caesar or bloody mary...the trick is to get some alcohol back in without the taste to come down slowly

We drink cabbage juice like a medicine if we have a headache after a tough night drinking loads of alcohol. We don't mix the cabbage juice with any kind of alcohol. We just drink it pure if we have a headache. Eastern Europe and Russia use this "medicine" method against alcohol headache Blink

It is not exactly a juice it is somekind of a cabbage soup. Well, its something between juice and soup. There is not an english word for that.

I prefer vodka Absolut Vanilla with apple juice or Baylies with milk and ice. Smile

Many american drink it but it's originated from south america, mexico to be more precise.

If you serve it in a glass they also dip the neck of the glass in lemon and then add salt to give a frozen look of the glass Blink

People actually drink beer with tomato juice!? That sounds horrid. The only thing I have seen someone use with beer is lime juice but that is just to give it a lime like edge, which also tastes like crap to me.

two bananas...20 mins apart...works for me...not a tomato juice fan Blink

I have never heard of this drink, but it does sound disgusting. I've heard of beer and champagne mixed together or beer and cider mixed together but never beer and tomato juice. I dont think i'll be ordering this soon

Do you know the Russian cocktail "Submarine"?

It is beer mixed with vodka. It is a pint of beer, then you fill a shot with vodka and put it inside the pint of beer, then you put a straw into the shot which is inside at the bottom of the pint of beer, and that way Russians drink vodka mixed with beer. I did this cocktail many times Big Smile

When someone drops a shot (can be anything) into a glass of beer...we call that a Boiler Maker....Submarine makes for a better description...can get sunk fast drinking those Big Smile

Cabbage Juice? Is there such a thing? I think not. There is very little water in cabbage and it only becomes 'juicy' when you boil it in water. So the concept of cabbage juice is somewhat flawed. It is boiled cabbage mashed or liquidized.

Lovely!

Damosk, that will be hard to explain, because I think you don't have this at Western Europe.

Every winter Eastern European countries and Russia prepare "Sauerkraut" (sour cabbage) which is fermented cabbage, as a traditional foodstuff and commodity, is of unique significance in the regions.

"sour cabbage", is finely cut cabbage that has been fermented by various lactic acid bacteria, including Leuconostoc, Lactobacillus, and Pediococcus. It has a long shelf-life and a distinctive sour flavor, both of which result from the lactic acid that forms when the bacteria ferment the sugars in the cabbage. Coleslaw, an unfermented dish made from fresh cabbage, may also be made with an acidic taste, but is otherwise quite different. Sauerkraut is also used as a condiment upon various foods.

Bulgarian recipe:

Cabbage, Sea salt, Watter

You fill whole cabbages untill top in the barrel, you pour watter in it, you put 40 gram SEA salt at every one litter of watter. Then you take out the watter of the barrel several times and put it again into the barrel. This is necessary to do, because the salt has to be mixed very well with the watter, not to be at the bootom of the barel. After that you tap the barrel and don't touch it for two days.

At the third day you begin to take out the watter and to put it again inside. During 15 days you should do this procedure once daily. After 25 days the sour cabbage is ready.

We eat it like a salad. We put oil and red pepper. It can be cooked for main meals as well with chicken or pork.

Damosk, just to understand for what extaly I am talking about, you can see a bulgarian how is making the sour cabbage here:

TigerAxL wanted to say that we drink the juice of that fermented sour cabbage which is not so bad, but we use it mostly for headache after tough night. Wimen drink it here when they are on diet and want to be very slim. They just drink that juice without eating for a week. We also use the sour cabbage juice for soups as well.

As I said this is a tradition at the Eastern European countries and Russia.

Ronin, I prefer drink beer mixed with fanta lemon. I can't drink it pure. I learned that in Spain. They called it champu (sounds shampoo). English women drink shandy, beer mixed with lemonade or sprite. Smile My parents drink red wine mixed with lemonade Smile

In Spain they drink red wine mixed with all this at once:

rom, fanta orange, orange juice, quantro (orange liquor), brandy, slices of orange and lots of ice. They call this Sangria (sangre means blood).

Enough lections for today. I am going to bed. Good night! Worship

I have heard and tried many of the recipes after one drink too many Smile
but so far nothing worked. This one with the cabbage is the first time i see it.
I like cabbage and i love it in a salad with carrots.
I will have a go next time by putting some in a blender and drinking it to see the result.
Although the best medicine is never reaching at that point lol.

Years ago as a student working in a factory when we would finish two weeks of graveyard shift on a Monday morning, with two days off before going back on day shift for two weeks, we would go out to the nearby bar - The Four Aces, for a few. The guys on my shift were mostly French Canadian and could knock back the beers like water, and although they were mixing their beer with tomato juice I never felt the urge to try it myself. Brought back some good memories though, thanks for posting.

wtf... beer mixed with tomato juice?
if you order this kind of drink in a pub her in cologne you can be happy if they dont bust you out
i am from germany the land of beer.my hometown cologne has his own famous kind of beer called "kölsch".
we have 25-30 different breweries who all brew their own unique brand of "kölsch".
(just to show you what the beer culture means to germans)

as roninharper said befor: ice cold and st8 from the bottle or from the barrel
is the only way to drink it.....cheers
