Thanks for starting this thread Ronin. I just received a win in BRM points and was considering opening a Skrill or Neteller account so that I could use these funds for PStars or Full Tilt. However, after reading all the posts here and all the negative reviews about "customer service" problems with Skrill, I have decided to transfer my winnings directly to Party Poker. I am not totally happy with Party Poker's new look, as it is a pain in the ass finding a sng or tourney I would like to play, but it is probably better than opening an e-wallet account I would not be able to fully utilize, besides the fact I have had issues with moneybookers before - for some reason they were trying to communicate with me in Russian although I only speak English.

I do have no doubt that the so called "governments" on this side of the pond are trying to devise ways to skim funds from online gambling. I am hearing more and more about Bitcoins and poker sites that are beginning to utilize this technology/currency. I think it is something that I am going to look into a bit more...pardon the pun.

That sucks. But you can always use virtual master card what neteller provide. Probably skrill too.

And you can withdraw to that card too.

I am using neteller virtual master card for shopping online.

Just use card on every poker you want. They can reject neteller or skrill but they will always accept cards where they are.

Just try it.

Good luck, I hope you sort it out

G'day mate

In Canada you can not use Visa or Mastercard to fund poker accounts.
The government and the banks made that illegal too.
You can get around it sometimes on PStars buy buying a specific type of prepaid Mastercard but even most of them now are no longer working anymore.
the virtual Neteller Mastercard option is one I will look into for sure.
be cool

Hi Ronin. But you can make virtual Mastercard that isnt connected to Canada at all.

You have 2 options on Neteller. 1st is virtual master card, that is only for internet. And second one is normal master card what they send you home.

With virtual mastercard is connected only to Neteller account and Netteller isnt connected to bank. And virtual master card you can use on any site you want on internet. Ebay accepts that and sites like that.

I think virtual netteler card you can connect to paypal account. And like that you can transfer money to paypal and from paypal to your bank account for little fee or without fee if you wait 1st of month.

Try like that.

Since they are following this line i doubt both companies will allow any Canadian
using their prepaid cards. For them it is the same thing.

Maybe you should look into the companies like entropay giving prepaid cards over the net.
Most of them though are using mastercard which to my knowledge in some poker
sites can be used only for deposits and no cash outs. (Entropay has Visa).

You will have a hard time finding another method besides bank transfers.

The only way I can think of is, if you are members of other forums, where you have trusted European friends, that you can get stuff withdrawn to a skrill account in their name, then they withdraw to bank then do a bank transfer.

Will cost in fees etc but could be the only way you can get your cash out.

I think this is all about tax and countries can be divided into three categories...

1) Countries such as USA who already screwed their citizens
2) Countries such as Canada who are in the process of screwing their citizens
3) All other countries who are watching on and working out how to best screw their citizens

I totally agree with the conclusions of the post above, right now my country is of course in the third category but this is hapening in ALL european countries.

I think the future of online poker will be in Russia and Asia iafter this American/European master plan against virtual poker.

I have used, and will continue too use my master card, which is pre-paid for deposits, never had any issues on any sites, with my card, the only problem now is getting the money home, and using my bank account to do so,I may know open an account just for poker. My card even works on PLAYNOW.COm which is owned and operated by the provinces. They are getting better with promotions on that site as they continue, they are fine tuning there offering to Canadians that play poker and casino, and there cash outs are fast and direct to the banks

I wouldn't be too worried yet. Back in 2006, OLG's executives announced, they would develop an online gaming platform for casino and poker to be opened in 2007, in Ontario. They've postponed the opening about 4 times now. Most recently, it was suppose to open late 2013, never happened. When it does open, i believe they will be shutting down Canadian access to certain sites, like the U.S.

It's the same network that currently host players in Quebec and Vancouver, very minimal players...

Yeah really sucks for you guys. If you want you guys could move out to another country and play poker but this would be too much to ask for recreational players. So basically after loss of USA market, Canada market is lost too.

I blame it on USA for doing it in the first place, other countries are just following. Your best bet would be to deposit with credit card and withdraw to bank directly!

Any Canucks with some time on their hands today can download a University of Toronto professor's paper on the subject and let me know what you think. I am working today so I will try to read it over the next few days.

G'day mate

Well I might have a look at it.
The deciding factor for me is, how bloody long is it.
I got very little time these days it seems.
Can not figure out why but I never seem to have enough time for anything I want to do.
People need to stop asking me to do crap for them.
In the new year I am just going to keep saying NO I do not have the time.
well be cool

Yup its the boss network platform,we can play in manitoba now, they even a bad beat jackpots, one for micro players the other for the regular players with the major jackpot and the casino is not bad either,I just hate the thought of have some 1 tell me where I can and can not play, with bs legislation, which is just skimming from the poker players,if you ask me,if there going to tax us for playing poker, what about there lotteries will we need to pay taxes on winnings there too.

The thing about this whole situation is, that i remember when the story
with USA started some Canadians were saying, you can come to Canada, here nothing is getting taxed, from gambling profits.
I guess everything is changing, and it is never good in this sector.

No, it really isn't good, and i dont think it will get better anytime soon. One must only look at the list of pokerrooms with the most traffic. A huge chunk are now rooms for one country only, usually France, Italy or Spain. This fragmentation is going to continue.

If the governments start semlling the money, the show is over.

Do not know how the heck you could miss it.
I also received an email from skrill support about it as well.
Check your junk mail filters if you are not seeing it.

You wont be able 2 use skrill, netteller, for deposits or withdrawal ,on any internet gaming purpose they sent out letters to every 1 effected, and the rooms have also sent out notices. You can still use them for shopping online, just not for igaming

What about WebMoney and EntroPay? Or maybe paysafecard

I didnt use these one so I dont know how they work, but on stars you have options for that one.

Only other thing is that someone give you money on p okersite and you give him or her money on paypal or something like that. But again I don't know how you would withdraw your earnings.

I must say that this is very weird that they do to Canadians.

I hope all of you will sort it out...

Good luck
