PokerStars Moves High-Stakes Games to Zoom

Since January 1, 2014, all $50/$100 NLH and PLO cash games on PokerStars are played via Zoom - the site's fast-paced way to play poker (if you fold a hand, you will be moved to another table with different players). According to PokerStars, the change was requested by its players and it's not a permanent change for now. "PokerStars developed a special High Stakes Zoom product with an eye toward r[...]   Read more » PokerStars Moves High-Stakes Games to Zoom

High stakes zoom? Is everybody crazy or what? I've got to go take a look at these tables, i have to see with my own eyes to believe someone is really risking these amounts in zoom, this can only be insane action! I don't even know if i would risk my play money chips if i had enough to play this (kidding) amounts. These must be harder than nosebleed...

Pokerstars did it as there was too much cheating. There was those that was bumhunting the recreational players and using scripts to get the best seat and also some that just sit down and plays and leaves before the big blind comes.

I can see a need for this, in that I do not believe you can watch the action, this protects some players, if you take max to the table each time and can afford it HU bingo styles can reap a good reward, solid play is out of the window in most cases and or it becomes a coin flip for the bingo players, added to this a higher turnover and rake, suits pokerstars and the rich bingo players to a tee, not for me at all.
FYI's I do play zoom tournaments and have done ok in them, there you can play good abc poker, very very rarely bluff, occasionally garner some information and get to the final 3 tables where the real money is, then game on!
Gl all BRMer's
See you on the felt (just not NB Zoom)

How these people can play for such high stakes in this manner just goes to show how skilled these players are. The amounts of money played for is huge and i would need a long time to think over any decision

I guess this is good for the pros that like to play zoom but not much good for everyone else and i just can't see how anyone can make a profit on zoom at any stakes but good luck to the high stakes pros/donks who are going to try.

great, now people can go busto much faster than before. and pokerstars can earn rake money much faster too. its a great move for ... well, for pokerstrars thats for sure , lol. noticed some ipoker skins added some sort of zoom sunday things with higher stakes too :/ not sure if thats tourneys or ring games though, but still i dont like it Tongue

Bingo.
The real winners of that rush/zoom/fast poker trend are the poker rooms that offer those games. More hands played = more rake generated.

But it will be dire times for the bumhunters, that is for sure.

Yeah, zoom or speed poker (rush poker) was the best online poker cash game. The other tables are so boring and you must wait a long time for a playable hand and than you get a suckout. Better zoom, than you get the same suckouts , but forget it instantly Big Smile

Thats a pretty interesting move but the reason for which they did it it's pretty obvious if you ask me.

All fast poker games like zoom or rush are the fastest way to make points and for the poker sites to make rake, in other words profit.

What i do not like is that you can't rail players anymore...

It's fun and stops you waiting around for ages but the variance, suckouts and idiots are tripled on those tables.

You must be kidding Theapple, do you really believe there would be any mobster with enough "skill" and "conditions" to enter this type of game?

wow such a wise move from stars...let me see, right now there are...7 players on nl holdem tables ($50/100) and a whooping 3 on pl omaha ($50/100)...lots of zooming to be wished i guess.
not sure if this will ever get enough attention...also there's no chance to rail the master donksters.

G'day mates

Well I think that was a truly stupid move on their part.
Purely motivated by nothing but greed as it will increase there overall rake.
I hate the zoom tables so choose not to play on them for the most part.
Every once in a while I do break down and play on a zoom table or two just for fun but never expect to win on them at all.
be cool

Its good for the people with money its not for me Smile)))))
Anyway i will continue to play little tournaments.
Little tournament (cash game) little rake , nothing but greed here from Pokerstars i think.
