I wud say phil hellmuth
This is what wikipedia says:
''In 1989, the 24-year-old Hellmuth became the youngest player to win the Main Event of the WSOP by defeating the two-time defending champion, Johnny Chan in heads up play. At the 2006 World Series of Poker, he captured his record 10th World Series of Poker bracelet in the $1,000 No Limit Hold'em with rebuys event.[3] At the time, this tied him with fellow poker legends Doyle Brunson and Johnny Chan. However, unlike Brunson and Chan, all of his bracelets are in Texas hold'em.
At the 2007 World Series of Poker, Hellmuth won his record-breaking 11th bracelet in the $1,500 No Limit Hold'em Event.[4] Hellmuth also holds the records for most WSOP cashes (65)[5] and most WSOP final tables (40), recently overtaking TJ Cloutier''

Phil Hellmuth is a good player but behaves like s**t at the table and off the table I will vote for Daniel Negreanu, Phil Ivey, Gus Hansen or Benyamine. But again depends on what areas of poker you look at. Tournaments, cash games, live poker, online poker etc. But no doubt about the fact that most poker players see Phil Ivey as the best or one of the best overall poker players. He gets a lot of respect when he joins the tables.

if it is really not me, it must be this sklansky guy when it comes to overall poker.
if most successfull is the best, it must be helmuth when it comes to holdem NL tournaments (which is apparently the most popular/successfull poker variation).
i am sure tho the best player out there is a no name to us, at a high stakes cash table in the bellagio or something.

i would say jesus is close and allen cunningham is great too. i would vote for jesus though because he is a very solid player that has what it takes to be a very succesfull player, others probably win bigger than him,but i just love how he plays ,not the most entertaining style but very efective.
