The U.S. Olympic Men's Ice Hockey Team takes on Canada in the semifinal round of the 2014 Olympic Winter Games at 12 p.m. ET today. The game will be broadcast live on NBC Sports Network and can be viewed online via NBC Sports Live Extra.
Team USA and Canada have met 17 times in Olympic competition, with the most recent meeting coming in a classic gold-medal game at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, B.C.
The winner of this game will advance to Sunday's gold-medal contest and play either Sweden or Finland.

MAN,....what a finish to the Women's Canada/USA game YESTERDAY eh...??? What a STUNNING win...???
Much credit must be given to the US player who iced the puck after Canada pulled their goaltender AND to the official who was in the way who deflected the puck slightly enough to prevent the goal when it slid all the way down,...going for the net,...then hitting the post and out.... < LOL
It was lookin' bad,...but I KNEW the girls could pull it off. Everybody just remain calm,.....be cool as a cucumber....and "Git 'er Dun".....
Then of course the gals tied it up with less than a minute to go....,... and nothing more be said...

Just like short track, also very exciting, but you only really get to see it during the Olympics, since there is no interest in it over here...
The dutch do speed skating, which is not a great spectator sport IMO.

What a fantastic game this was. I know absolutely nothing about Ice Hockey but i thoroughly enjoyed this spectacle. To come back from 2 goals down with less than two minutes left and to go on and win the gold was unbelievable

As jesse would say +1 Canada both the girls and guys! What a couple awesome games and no doubt a good one to look forward too for sunday morning! Here in Toronto they passed like a By-law allowing Liqour and beer to be served for the 7 am game lol go toronto!

Granted,...the NHL has had MANY GREAT Swedes over the years, and they are formidable finesse players,...but all the Canadsks have to do is step up the physical game,....and those Swedes will run out of the building like a bunch of little girly men....

Hey marquiss,...the Dutch are GREAT speedskaters,...but you know,....come to think of it,...I really don't know of too many, or any at all Dutch that have came to the NHL. You're right,...Holland just doesn't seem to be big into hockey,....kinky sex and coffee houses yes,....hockey no....

Canada is the land of hockey and I fancy them to win of course, as they have much better players and much more experienced players, also they will play with passion as it is something sacred in their country.
I'm gonna support canada for tonight, bet on some players in tennis from Canada and won some nice money and hope today their team win and I can continue to support them. Cheers have fun and let's hope we have a clean and entertaining game!

2 key players for Sweden are out,... Sedin and Zetterberg, both with rib injuries. The Swedes will have a little less confidence going into the game.
Only a few hours until the game! I don't think it'll go to overtime. The Canadians can taste that gold but I don't believe that they will think in anyway it's gonna be a walk in the park. They'll just play a good solid game. Sweeping the series and doing as well as the ladies I'm sure is on their minds...

Humour indeed.. We must have loads of it, as when we heard that THREE Canadians would be referees in the game
A nd we badly lost Bäckström 2 hours before the game.. too bad.. we had to many injuries in thiis tournament, and we WON a silver medal for sure
And about girly men.. we have had some bad physical players too.. howabout Robocop.. and MAttias Norström(LA Kings).. And even Peter Forsberg.. y dont have so many stars that is a godlike player and who dont step aside for hitting the rail..

I was the first time Sweden lost a final game in the olympics.. hahaha.. we had 2 gold before.. One vs CANADA, and on over Finland .
In the first 5 games Sweden totallty owned the rink, but honest.. the final was the lamest game so far.. i guess that the Bäckström story rubbed the balance of the swedes..

Hey Daddy,....you can be proud of your team... Although they got shut out by us, they DID go 5 straight, which in itself is GREAT...! And Ya,...the Backstrom thing at the last minute was probably a real deciding factor... 3 top guns out... Also,....Price in goal for the Canucks,....HE was hot...! Tough to get one past him. 2 shutouts back to back...
Bit of a funny story:
So I got up in time to watch the 3rd period.... Period starts 2-0 Canada. I made my coffee and went outside to the back yard porch to have a smoke....
Nice sunny morning but really COLD.... I'm having a sip of my coffee, then from about 5 doors over I hear a cow bell go CLANK CLANK CLANK CLANK CLANK...!!!!
I knew EXACTLY what it was..... Canada MUST have just scored... There's a house full of student partiers over there....! I go in the house, and sure enough it was a goal...!
They were all out there drinking beer and shots watching the game on a big screen outside in the freezing cold...

Well.. it seems like you had a good start on the morning for sure
Canada was absolutely the best team for the day, and i´m sure they felt even better when Sidney Crosby finally scored..
In about 2 gours the team will come to Stockholm, and as usual they´ll meet a couple of thousand swedes and get their ovations for the medals. Silver medal is almost as good as it gets.. One thing that i´m most satisfyed with, is that we won over finland and that they onlyy got broze
Its like USA vs Canada.. Finland vs Sweden is always the greatest games to watch . Once again.. Congrats to the well earned gold medal and we´ll meet again my dear Watson!!c
