An opportunity has come up which means I can go to see some of the games at the World Cup this summer in Brazil, and "all" I have to do is have around $3,000 by the start of June... Obviously, at such short notice, saving my wages isn't an option, so I have no alternative but to try and win it playing poker.
I deposited $100 last week to take advantage of the free $55 Sunday Million satellite, and have won that up to around $220 so far, playing a mixture of MTTs and Hyper-HUs... so only $2,780 more to go
I figure, it's been a while since I've done a blog on here, so I may as well do one for this.
I'll mainly be playing small buy-in MTTs, and intend to play as many of the MicroMillions as I can.
I'll post details of the tournies I've played, with results, key hands etc..

This seems like a long shot but i really hope you get the money to go to Brazil and i for one will be checking on this forum for regular updates because i always like to see a fellow mobster try to achieve his dreams. Good luck again to you

I know it's not as simple as this..... but.....
Over my poker "career" I've averaged an ROI of 99%, so in theory, if I play $3,000 worth of tournaments from now until the start of June, I should do it. That's around $40 per day, and I don't really like playing anything over around $10.... so I'm gonna be busy

Good luck chap, seems like a reasonable challenge to take on. I can see a $3k tourney win comng inside 2 months and you having some bonus spending money by June

You certainly seem like a good player, and I'd say it isn't out of reach... Some solid poker playing, and a little luck go your way,...and off you go...!
I think it's a good strategy to play more smaller games. Putting all your eggs in one basket could spell peril suddenly, and you'd have to start all over again and have less time to accomplish the task...!
Doesn't hurt to buy a few lottery tickets here and there along the way... You could luck out there too...!

Don't miss it out for noting, I never had the opportunity to go at a world cup but looking at it from TV you can see that being in the stadium and country is real nice and the atmosphere is just electric. Have fun there. Don't miss it at any costs!!
So good luck in your poker challenge if you half way there and cannot go at least you made money in poker and can use the cash to learn more from poker cheers!

I really hope you will do good and achieve your goal permitting you to go to Brazil. It is a beautiful country and in the top of the list from the ones i want to visit one day. So good luck with it.You can do it

btw how come its that cheap, just 3k here where i live its almost $10k to book accomodations/flights/and like 3-4 matches tickets. And its not getting any cheaper either :/

I know someone from Brazil that I can stay with, so no accommodation costs.. and i won't have to pay for the tickets either, so the 3k is just for flights and spending money for two weeks.

Definitely has to be less of a grind and more like needing one "bink" to make it. Would suggest you to take out the hyper HUs because to reach the amount you want they won't get you far unless you get on a ridiculous upswing. GL

Right - sorry for the slow updates...
It's been a pretty good start for me... Been playing as many MTTs as I can and have managed to get my bankroll up to $299.12 - narrowly missing out on really good cashes twice.
The week days give me a lot less time to play, so I'll likely be playing a couple of tournaments a night until the weekend rolls around again.
I'm loving the Omaha MTTs at the moment - cashed in virtually every one I've played, so I'll stick at those, along with the 2-7SD MTTs and all the usual low buy in NLH one's.
I'm in the $200,000 freeroll all in thingy from the mission week tonight, so that could be a nice boost with no effort at all... and I've built up around 500fpp which I think I'll try and get up to 3500 and try to qualify for the Sunday Million with them... undecided as yet as to whether I'd take the tournament dollars, or play it.
And that just about sums everything up.
Two and a half months to go, and I'm almost 10% of the way to my target...

Not bad for a start. Plus you can cash in big in the tournaments you are mentioning. If you get lucky in that freeroll you may even stop playing tonight and have spare money too. Good luck with it.
