This is a crazy amount of money to lose and i always wonder how much of this is his own money. For a great player like Gus Hansen to lose this amount makes us lesser players think twice about playing for bigger money

Sure it's a crazy amount ! I want to know where he gets the money and spew on the online high stakes tables. If i were in his place i'll quit online poker and focus on the live poker touney and cash game or he should spend more time studying

He is a good player but the younger player now play more aggressively and that is why he loses because he does not adapt well, his loses just keep growing up and he is not giving up and kudos for him for that or it could just be his pride.
I like him as a player though so I hope he ca get back up but this will take a long time and he makes money with his sponsoring contract so no worries for him I guess!
People wondering where he get this money to lose , is that the money come from sponsoring contracts with full tilt etc. Anyway have a nice day!

G'day mates
What can I say? I wish I had his sponsorship money to game with and not care about winning or losing at all. The problem is that the new younger players just do not have any respect it seems for most old poker pros. They chase with nothing and win to often playing crap poker. Hope things turn around for him soon. be cool

He's trying to kick Isildur out of the 'Biggest Loser' column...!
That's a real shame... Looks like it's gotten to the point where he's chasing his losses trying to regain some,...but he's making things even WORSE...!
When ya get on a losing streak like that,....it's time to hang it up for a little while...!
Are you kidding?? what the??? he is crazy... yes demo good advice but i think that people like him can't hang it up... oh my god,17 milion? hahahah... that's too bad... now my losses seem so small... thank you gus! but what happened? can a loosing streak be so bad or he forgot to play poker??
When i see those kind of losses i always start to question those players. 17 million is abnormal much to lose, if i had that kind of money i would prob. just play for fun and not for money.

@nike yes their losing streaks can really make a difference :=) Unlike our losing streaks, where we lose a few buyins of 2 bucks each, their losing streak might mean losing 20 hands sets them 1m back
so yea those games really are a double edged sword, sure you might win some nice cash in just a few hands, but when you lose, or even worse, when youre on a downswing it migh as well be a 1-2m big downswing

I think this is normal to him.
I saw few years ago a short movie , and he said that last week he was like - 1,7 Milion $, and present week he get the balance to approximately zero.
You must pay attention that he is so aggresive, and maybe a bit crazy ; I saw once a video ( live play ) , and he goes all in without even look to his cards ! ( luckily he has a 22 )
So I still think that he earn money in long run, than loosing.

Who know how much money he has accumulated so far, or if someone is backing him up with huge piles of money. Everyone is saying that he is a good player and very aggressive, but the big question is can he bounce back up from such a loss?
