I don't really see that much why to complain about the competition here.
Some hands are much closer to standard than you think.
Even the hand where the initial raiser had 24s is a reasonable play if the table was ridiculously passive (I myself wouldn't do it, but many good players would argue it's +EV to open any2 cards here).
Your A6s hand should definitely be a raise/fold or raise/call (depending on who is 3-betting, of course you can't fold to one of the shorties) spot preflop, you still have a pretty healthy stack here, but you need to accumulate more chips to be able to keep up pressuring (which should be what you should do nonstop in a MTT if the situation is suitable). A6s is far too good to fold here. Even just shoving it with 18BB in this spot is almost +EV because of all the deadmoney in the pot. I think starting @ A8s it becomes +EV.

Anyways, good job on the good return Blink

gj for everyone who finished ITM

but ... u didnt win it bowie Evil Angry

still when you think about it, you actually won 70 bucks with 10c entry fee, so its not that bad is it Big Smile

sure, winning it would be stuff of legends - winning it with 10c satelite - that would put you amongst poker legends like Theapple, and some other famous poker players, but still quite a decent return for 10c investment :=P

I wasnt expecting anything special, from 120k entrants obviously not every one of them will play like Doyle Brunson, but it was a bit sad to see that the first two hours at my tables they openlimped the living s**t out of this tournament, even when they've got a s**tton of 3bets, 4bets they just kept doing it. So at the beginning this was basicaly a deep stack free.roll dressed with x-mas ornaments.

Of course the handhistories I copypasted lacking context, so yeah its not nearly as clear why they ended up here as I originally intended, but that was all the time I had - to make a quick copypaste. If anybody had interest in one of those, just ask me and I'll provide the surrounding situation.

The 24s pissed me off, since the table wasnt particularly passive (ITM was still around an hour away so there wasnt anything to slow the table down) but our chipleader trolled into every hand and when he did, he called every push on the flop with cards like that. Of course some didnt went his way, but still - come on.

The A6s is a nifty one. If it was A10+ (or I was sitting at a SNG) I would've gone for it but UTG I only like to raise and call reraise if Im holding pockets 77+ or bigger suited broadways. I know based on my stacksize I should've tried this one, but I was playing tight since the beginning and my fifth sense told me to fold. It ended up on a crazy board and I probably never could've make the other two decent stack fold, with both of them chasing their draws.

Summary

So my original goal was making it through the late reg period (~120 minutes).
I didnt care about the ITM, since I've got in cheap (see the opening post in this thread) and it wasnt all that meaningful to make something out of a tourey with a playing field that contains this many people.

I never played this tourey before, so I sat back and relaxed.
Got many podcasts on the go (thanks to Bill Burr, Bill Simmons, Pete Holmes and Chris Hardwick to their contributions for my ears - also for not boring my ass off waiting on da cards), drank a nice load of water to remain hydrated and ate some cookies to get some sugar rush when I felt down.

I knew I'll play this like a NIT, not because I wanted nor cuz its my standard MTT style but as I mentioned I never played this tourey so I didnt know what to expect. This way was more manageable I thought (with the blind structure and the 250bb deep starting stack there was no need to rush this).

Also I didnt get many playable hands (93o, 610o, 57o, 36o... a countless goddamn times) and early on I barely gotten any reads on the other playas at my table with all their openlimp and weird b.etting sizes post-flop.
So if I wasnt so sure how tight Im going to be, it was clear after the first half-hour that I'll be as tight as gets since my table kind of forced me to (otherwise I would have probably play with a way more wider range, but 60% of my first two tables JUST EXACTLY DID THAT therefore it was very clear I have to go at it with the opposite).
I usually play as the toureys rythm goes or as my current table asks for it.
I played tight. Mostly defended my blinds and sometimes stole from others.

I've got some coolers and some fortunate rivers - according to my stats I won showdowns around 75%.
My three best pots of the night were gathered by a 66, a JJ and an A10s.

Thats about it. It was alright, it was fun (altough a bit exhausting one).
Maybe in the future (when my sunday nights are free) will play satellites for this again, the direct buy-in still above my standard stakes...
Thanks again for all the support.

Aaand, the saga continues...
John Williams's fanfares running in the background.

Just won ticket to the SS again.
And it was from the first try, so Im definitely in da green with this one (Im looking at you The Big 4.40$ which cost me 3x1.50$ to get in two days ago).
Altough theres no way in heaven I will play on this sunday, so eleven tournament dollars - here they come.

It does look to me that these FO sats are more suited to my bad habits than the rebuy ones.
If anybody interested - this was the last hand from the sat, bubble boy got totally chopped a hand ago by me when he was setmining with 55 but ran into my flushdraw.

There was some interesting hands of course - the notion that the folk with a great (ticket worthy) stack size just keep going on playing poker is never get old. I dont know what drives them, the adrenalin or their stupidity, but cheers to them. Just keep doing it.
