Posted by yout85: Definitely loving the non-turbo ones
Just played a set of 15... 6 ITM and a $20+ profit. I know this sort of rate won't keep up, but I'm at 30% ROI in the non-turbos atm, with a $21.69 profit from just 21 games.
Think my plan will be to play as many non-turbo as I can at the start of each month... If I'm falling behind my monthly targets, then I'll add turbos to the mix..
------------ That last set of 20, I was getting sucked out on left, right and centre... every time I got called by a flush draw - they hit, every time I got someone all in dominated, they hit....
But still only $10 down ... and I really can't forsee having an unluckier session than that for a long time.
Feeling confident
I also dropped $250 ($200 under EV) over the last 2 days at $7s, that was my first real downstreak since I started playing the non turbos, but got half of it back with the last set, was pretty sweet Also got 585 points after 30 games at the $3.50 BoP, maybe I can get another nice 70 games
Would also like to run on EV sometime, I'm on $542 profit in the $7s non turbos now, but have $870 in EV (would be a nice ~$1.20/game or 17% ROI), but I hope the latter will catch up sometime

wow with so much time taken up by work and schooling, why bother with MTT/SNG and just sit at multiple ring tables - quicker points and doesn't take up as much time - because time is your biggest challenge to be successful in this supernova....you could do it for a month then you start to burn out and drop hours at school or work to keep this challenge up so managing time will be key!

i also though about going for supernova next year, but after a second thought and a third and a fourth i decided that i don't like the red color of supernova stars... so i guess i am left only with going for supernova elite or stick to losing at any limits and any game (which i am doing successfully now)

It seems like everyone wants to follow you two in your road to supernova. You both should share a blog thread to post your updates and story's while we can all follow you.
i hope you both do give it a real good go. i would never get the points in two life times never mind one year . would cash games get you the points faster than sng and mtt. what points are you doing a day now and what level are you now. gl

Cash games would probably be the "easiest" way... but I much prefer SNGs and MTTs to cash, so I'll be avoiding it as much as I can...
I'm currently only a Silverstar, fairly close to Goldstar - but I have the means and the mindset to really up my volume now, so I'm easing myself into it for the rest of this year, playing 50 or or SNGs per day, then as soon as January 1st comes around, I'll hit the tables hard.
Covered above but to reiterate, cash and time is the keys to succeeding in this challenge, cash should be easy as long as you follow good bankroll management and keep your A-game in play for each session, time is going to be harder for you guys to manage, you can not let either your school work or your work work suffer.
As a suggestion, along the line already muted.. 1. Schedule and set aside a day each week for Family/friends/general relaxing/recharging. 2. Schedule and set a day aside to play a decent MTT to go for a big score Sunday storm, bigger $11 etc. 3. Schedule and set aside enough time to complete all school work and try to stay 1 step ahead, if you fall behind it will be almost impossible to catch up. 4. Play at one level and 1 level only, if "reg's" are in the tourney, good, you should have a pretty good read on them and have identified their weaknesses and where you can have a +ev vs them, as soon as bankroll management allows move up to the next level. 5. Mix in a few 50/50 at the same level, relatively soft, a quicker turnover to accumulate those vpp. 6. Spend your fpp's wisely. 7. and finally, damn good luck to you both, expecting an update at each month end or milestone.

if youre going to to try and hit supernova by next year i think sng's and mtt's are much more easier to play with a low risk of getting bust rather than play cash games which would generate much faster FPP's but the variance is not that friendly lol.
try some 6man hypers if youre going to play some huge volumes in that way you wont get bored. anyways i wish you all the best man may the cards be with you! ( i was looking for a zero to hero story here. anyone can help me with that? )

3P out
hey nice post, but have to disagree with some points:
1. This would be important for a fulltime player, but doing supernova alongside of other stuff this is not as important
4. Simply not possible if we play non turbo STTs, from $15s and up there would simply not be enough traffic ($30s run only at peak times, same with $60s, $15s also dont run frequently enough outside of peak times). Another problem is that even if we know regs tendencies some of them will be very hard to play, and every reg will lower our winrate instead of a random is in their spot.
5. 50/50s get a super low winrate and have lower rake (and less vpps), like I said, we should be looking to make much more pre rakeback than through supernova itself. 7. Thanks alot and thanks again for your input

I have just noticed that according to Pokerstars' website, you should achieve Supernova by playing 975,000 hands on a $0.05/0.10 6-Max cash table in a year.
...That's ~2,670 hands per day. I like the sound of this a bit more than playing upwards of 100 SNGs per day. I can play comfortably over 1,000 hands per hour on 4 Zoom tables, so now I'm thinking...
Monday - Friday, play around 3 hours of Zoom... Saturday, rest day... maybe a few SNGs if I feel like playing, then Sunday would be my tournament day...
If I start falling behind my required rate, I could easily add up to 3 hours to each Zoom session without too much hassle.
Gonna hit the Zoom tables tonight to see how I do.
------------ VIP changes in the UK next year could screw me... Might have to be playing 4 hours a day rather than 3 to make up for the changes...
Posted by BeMyATMplz: Lower hourly rate playing tha, but if you think you can handle it better then surely the better option
If you play at a winrate of 10 bb/100, you'd get $1 per 100 hands. So $10 per hour if you play 1000 hands per hour. Not really something to give up your day job for, I think.

Tbh marqis, I'm not really "aiming" at anything... I'll be happy enough to just not go broke, and make Supernova... It's more a long term plan than anything else.. and 2016 will be the year I'll see the rewards (in VPP form).
I have enough income from work so that winning at poker is not essential - obviously it would be nice, but I'm not intending to withdraw anything throughout the whole year.

Hey yout....after seeing your results in the previous 24 hour challenge I have to say I was very impressed with the performance and the way you stuck to your plan even though some parts were not going so well. I think the players who continually make money from poker are people like you that do lots of preparation and know their own limitations. You see players say they will do this and that with the best intentions without looking at the stats, time, cost, etc. I know I do not have the time or inclination to learn enough about poker to make a daily wage but after seeing your challenge results I started looking at staking on some other forums and some players looking for money were obviously living in dreamland.I,personally, would be looking for someone with your attitude. Good luck with whatever you decide to do and I'm sure you will do very well.

That's maybe the nicest thing anyone's ever said about me
Seems like a lot of work. Especially when doing it by playing MTT, since you play a long time for relatively low rake (which is actually a good thing, but makes this challenge harder).
I wonder how many supernova's there are, and if they are not mostly cash game players...?
I think there are also a few hyper players that reach supernova ore supernova elite.. Mtt wise i think is very hard to do...
