He is not my favourite poker presenter, maybe it's just me but his high pitched excited voice is like the sound of nails down a blackboard. Smile

They toss the cards in a bowl,...and have a male stripper stir them with his 'ding-dong'... Shock

I perhaps need to listen to and watch this video again, when I have more time, dos to me it sounds like they don't actually shuffle the deck but pick cards out of a virtual deck, which actually isn't how it works, is it. Interesting, but also was surprised at the building they call HQ!

In reality it's the same thing though isn't it? Randomly selected cards.

To me it seems like an over complication. First they get random numbers by streaming light through a mirror and then more random numbers through mouse movements and then pick out numbers from a virtual deck. It's interesting he admits software RNGs are not entirely random. I think most of us knew this but we had already come to terms that it is as good as random and we don't really care.

I mean a real life shuffle by hand isn't random. Cards that were close together when gathered are depending on the quality of the shuffle more likely to be next to each other in the next deck, depending on the shuffler some cards are more likely to reappear in the next hand, but not a single person at the table is able to predict the next cards.

That's the point for me. No one has an advantage so it is fair. As long as all the cards left in the deck are an option and the software doesn't continuously favour particular cards (in other words if it balances out over a million hands) then it really doesn't matter. It's all well and good proving that you can randomly produce a deck but it's really just a gimmick. Unpredictable is all we really need.

(PS. how come I've never heard anyone moan that online roulette or other online casino games aren't random when surely it's more important when playing against the house)

Haha if you losing the most likely you will come out with any sorts of excuse, i was like that once when i lost some pots i Google that pokerstars was a joke and they had bots and so on or blame the other players as he was shorstacked and me thinking he was a bot as he always leaves after getting to 50bb lol.

Anyway good luck mate hope you have some fun at the tables and nice video was just rambling on my past on above lol. Cheers peace out mate!
