It is not the only skill that i dont have but knowing when to fold i think is the one that is costing me the more. Very often i dont fold and i should have.
Adapt to the board, don't give too much importance to your starting hand, especially if you don't flop anything worth "value betting"... Continuation bets and agressivity is VERY important but knowing when and on what kind of board to shut down is equally important. It can even make your opponent tilt when you keep making good folds everytime he hits a flop...

I think that knowing when to fold is just as important as knowing when to bet. If you can master the art of knowing when to fold, you are well on your way to becoming a good poker player. I need to learn this as well

i think there is a lot more money in folding then in calling and tight fold is always better then hero call and always have a plan in a hand and stick to it... and know how are playing blinds and 2 guys before u

that is probably the most important skill you must have tilt is a factor , you will be saying to yourself how can that river helped him , i need to see what he has and you end up calling with just top pair just try to be casual about it , always think i will get him next time most people will be like i can't be this unlucky but guess what you can be unlucky , that is poker , thats why we calculate our odds , so FOLD if you smell something fishy in cash games they will bluff you more than MTT/SNG and the reads you make on players can help your play , however always remember that fish can wake up with monster hands also

Hey pinotte,I saw that you reached the final table in last nights Party poker bankrollmob freeroll, can't remember exactly but think you got fourth place so you obviously did well to get there. I thought the hand you got knocked out with was probably where you should have been more careful with mid pair against chip leader but he was hitting most of his hands at that point and went on to win.

You just can't KNOW every time you would better fold your hand, unless you can see the other cards. But being able to lay down a strong hand, when the board and the resistance dictate it, is surely a plus.

Knowing when to fold is a skill you will learn with experience i learned it and sometimes still do stupid calls, bust mostly might hero folds are spot on though it might be me being over cautious , the other day had AA and limped it knew it was wrong as soon as it hit the flop and got flush and straight draw on flop and my AA looking weak and just check and fold as it was a mistake on my part preflop, so not compounding it and just let that hand go!

Sorry but i think that the hand when i was chip leader and i had A Q and a flop with A i bet the pot and the one you are talking about raised all in and i called he had two pairs. With this big raise i should have know that my pair was not enought. At the time there was 7 players i think wnt from chip leader to i think 4th or 5th. This was the worst one.

When I started watching there were only 6 players left so I didn't see that hand, the hand I was thinking of was when the flop was 678 or 567 and you had middle pair and shoved, think he had top pair but at the point I was watching he was playing nearly every hand with junk so you were pretty unlucky.
