Posted by erru9107: Are they? I'm having my doubts due to the format.
G'day mate
They are extremely profitable for the poker site. I have now played exactly 20 spin n go tournaments. 18 were for $1 buy ins and 2 were for $3 buy ins. The breakdown went like this for the 18 with $1 buy ins. 17 with a $2 prize pool & 1 for $4. So the site took in $52 but paid out $38 so they raked in $14. The breakdown went like this for the 2 with $3 buy ins. both had $6 prize pools. So the site took in $18 but paid out $12 so they raked in $6. What that means is this the total buy ins over the twenty games was $70 The total prize pools totaled $50, so they raked in $20. I think that is almost 29% rake over all. I have heard similar things for other players who have played more games then I have.
Think about it, do you think the players are making any money over all? wishing you all the best be cool

Yeah that's what I thought. I haven't played at PS for a long time but I'm thinking of moving my roll over there due to PartyPoker starting to fade a little bit in my opinion...

I totaly agree with ronin, only pokerstars have profit... But if you have a realy luck, to hit a couple of times jackpot, than its profitabile and good for you, but chances to get big pot is very very small. I sugest that you dont play that and keep playing what you played before
I don't know about the Pokerstars ones, but I doubted the "Jackpot SNG's" on Full Tilt, would have reasonable rake, but they are (were?, I have not done a recent calculation) better than other SNG's, with about 4 or 5% rake taken.
You do need to win some of the multipliers, once in a while, because you lose money fast on the 2x multipliers, because it's not reasonable to think you can win half of them, if there are 2 opponents.

These games are profitable as long as you win more than you don't. The format makes them exceptionally profitable if you are lucky enough to hit a game with a huge payout and you can manage to win that one..... As it is playing for $1 and winning $2 isn't that profitable.

Ronin, your rake numbers are wrong. the rake is 7% for the $1 spin and go and it goes down to 4% in the $30 ones. The balance is used to pay out the spin and go with the higher prize pool. In other words the players pay for the higher prizepool spin and gos and not pokerstars.

RoninHarper I'm sorry mate but i think you have it completely wrong. They DO NOT rake in the extra in your examples, it goes to the jackpot. Myself i play a lot in the $7 or $15 and i was in the $15 Spin & Go payout to the winner ( not myself ) $600 thats like x20 of the buy in.... My best effort was winning $120 from a $15 buy in, huge profit considering i ONLY had to beat 2 other players

Wasn't this dicussed before? The high payouts are to rare to cancel out the disadvantages if one has a low payout, and the structure makes them pushfest. Only for those with superior coin flipping skills.

1) of course spin and go's are profitable. it just depends to whom- you or pokerstars (chances are that...) 2) spin and go's can drive you crazy in no time, they have the extra tilt element to them- you always try to chase the big multiplier, and when you finally hit it... you go out in 2nd or 3rd 3) there is always #3, that's how things are meant to be.
You sure can boost youre vpp rank with this spin and go's In a instant u are chrome ore more They can make u tilt faster, Sooo you have t keep in mind the swings cus they aint fun,.. They can give u a nice payday but u can go downhill fast

They can be profitable but donkeys who hit their trips with 2-10 offsuit all in vs ur queens or so tilt you quite fast tbh , see a lot of those happening on this kind of tables

It is beatable but you have to be real good and have the edge or some luck on your side as if you do not hit those big SNGs or hit them but do not win then you lose some value and you are not guarantee to win those! I think of spin go as a mug games so avoid it if you do not have an edge and will lose your bankroll like this, anyway good luck and have fun at the tables hope you wins the jackpot at least once and then call it a day hehe!

Maybe u dont play them right, i have no trouble beating those two opponents ussualy, gets tiresome after a few... its a 3 player table, so waiting for some amazingly awesome cards is stupid, got a K2 go play it... call all ins with As, fold to high preflop raises, check almost anything with small ones 45 up ... land a pair, its 90% win.
The ones on Full Tilt are better hit a big multiplier and guaranteed a prize or do a deal i have played over 500 of these on Full Tilt and biggest one i hit was a 20X at the $5 buy in and won it for $100 i think the biggies only happen once a day GL
