I look forward to seeing who comes out on top in this event but i wish they would go back to the old way and finish the event in the Summer, to wait for so long before knowing who is the winner baffles me

I think delaying the final for a few months is probably a very good thing for Vegas and the TV companies in terms of money. For most of the players it must also be a great experience, especially for the less well known players.
In the UK poker never makes it into the mainstream news and TV but the US seems to love the WSOP.The final players get a lot of publicity, are treated as celebrities and always have the chance to make money from appearance fees, etc and if they are amateurs they can negotiate a decent sponsorship deal.

G'day mates

I think this new way of holding the WSOP is beyond stupid.
I would much rather see the event just help over the summer and get it done.
Most people do not even give a crap about it when November rolls around.
I think it was a truly lame as marketing attempt.
An attempt which is a giant fail.

I agree w Ronin, it just makes no sense.
I guess they do it just to generate enough interest, but honestly if we didnt get a notification in every november that its time 2 play the final table on this event NOBODY WOULD EVEN CARE.
Its rarely interesting (unlike in the 80s) its rather boring. Too long anyway and why would you bother?

Hi, everybody.

I wish all to benefit part from this super huge prize. It is necessary to trust in the forces and to try to make a maximum of efforts for providing a prize.

Good luck all at tables and in life.

You feel sorry for Mark Newhouse, i would be over the moon to finish 9th two years in a row. Would be a damb sight more money than I'm making now. Wait a second im not making any money Confused
well maybe a dollar here and a dollar there but pittance really

I'd be absolutely devastated. Knowing you beat 99.9% of the field 2 years in a row to bust 9th after 5 months of anticipation would kill me. Added to the no extra money made from the 730K kind of seems like a time waster, even though the interviews said he didn't exactly prepare. They also said Tonking swore off poker in the time leading up to the final table, and he finished 4th, so it doesn't make a lot of sense.

Was happy to see Pappas make 5th, although there were players who definately deserved a higher finish. Shame to see no Politano flair at the table, but it must be hard with your rail sitting so far away, you must feel somewhat isolated.

Even though he lost the hand (and I'm pretty much replicating Antonio Esfandiari's words) but I really do like the way Newhouse busted. Folding would have left him with 20BB, and I thought for sure Tonking was folding to that shove. But as he said about 900 times after the hand, 'I would have snapped if it wasn't the main'. Very tough call, he either had a clear idea of what Newhouse was holding (something that is REALLY difficult to do as he has clearly demonstrated through the main), or it was a call and hope situation. GG to both.

My tip is definately Martin Jacobson to take it down, despite Van Hoof being the leader. Interested to hear anyone with a betting offer. Will take Jacobson at a legitimate offer if anyone is keen.

i was hoping he would take it down , why Mark ? why ?
he should have had give up his hand 10 10 on the flop or the turn
Also the bluff on the river was not a great play , i don't think he could have bluffed QQ on this board 7 J 4 4 J , it was obvious the other player didn't have the full-house but he 3-bet pre-flop so he could have had a better pair than 10 10 which he did ...
Anyhow next year he will come back again , wouldn't be awesome if he got to the final table 3 years in a row

if you can honestly say you'd fold to 100% of c-bets from position on this flop, then you are losing money. Tonking played it well, although a lead on the turn would have most likely gotten him more chips. Newhouse's bet on the turn was probably a little short of genius, but still great. It's a typical feeler bet, something you would make with 100% of the Jacks in your range.

His TT flat preflop is also good IMO, it's a pretty well disguised hand against all of Tonking's light 3-bets, something his tight image could exploit. Definately one of the better flops for TT in that spot, as Tonking is hardly ever 3 betting any hand that could hold a jack (sick if he has JJ). The J on the river pretty much elimates all hands that contain a J in his range, and his shove puts huge pressure on the exact hand Tonking is holding. I think Newhouse was counting on Tonking folding an OVP due to the situation, and I think he was unlucky to get called. His river shove might have been a tad over enthusiastic, but not all wrong. A check would have saved his tournament, but also has a good chance of taking it down v an OVP.

Well I wish them all luck at taking down the first place spot.
I do not really care which one of the win.
talked with a few other players I know and nobody seems to care about this years WSOP.
it is said really that the so-called main event has dropped off this way.
