Software that scans lobbies and automatically reserves seats when it finds 'weak' players is being tackled by PokerStars A PokerStars representative confirmed: ''We intend to implement a limit on the number of times a player can reserve a seat at a given table without playing. We don’t expect this to solve all the issues, but we expect it to improve the situation while we review the situation in more depth. We hope this measure will end the scenario that results in tables being “locked out” by scripts perpetually reserving seats without intending to play and will reduce the overall effectiveness of seat scripts. But we also want to set the limit such that it will minimize the impact on players who are not using scripts. As a starting point, we are considering allowing three reservations without game action per table for any given six hour period. Reservations resulting from reaching the top of a waiting list would not be counted.''

Personally, I've never used any kind of additional software at poker. I'm not against its use, but I believe that it takes some of the fairness of the game.

Isn't it amazing how you learn something knew every day! Reserving seats to search out weak players! This sounds like online poker exploitation and perhaps ought to sneak its way into the realms of fraud or some kind of abuse of the vulnerable in society!

This month they have reached out to the poker community for help in their fight against them. Players have been invited to their Toronto offices to discuss possible solutions to the problem. Anyone who thinks they can help PokerStars with their meeting, which takes place between January 16 to 19, should email [email protected].
Is this just a pokerstars thing? I noticed you can hardly get a seat, by opening a table, because someone always gets there before you (then you click the "find a table like this one" button).
On Party Poker that does not happen; I always thought it was just due to the amount of traffic. I know these scripts exist for Party Poker, but I don't see that sort of behavior at the tables (i.e. tables with many seats reserved, but not actually joining).
I feel it's important to find a table with weak players, and none or few strong ones. I can do that on Party, but on PS that would be hard...

Never thought that something like that exists. Technology catching up rapidly and as the time goes more and more trying to get an advantage no matter what. Now imagine using this with a combination, with one of the tracking softwares. Good thing they are taking measures. I wonder if this happens also in smaller sites and if they are going o do something about it.

I don't know wtf 'seating scripts' are,...but I sure know just wtf THESE are,...and they are by the THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS infecting PokerStars,...and i sure wish PS would do something about all the multi account cheaters...!!!

It will be good move by PokerStars as sometime you cannot find a single seat all you can play is Zoom. PokerStars is not going to limit no of tables a player can play but limit no of tables player can register without not playing them.

I also don't know what 'seating scripts' are exactely, but I think I have once read something about programmes that are searching the net or a pokerclient for unorthodox betting patterns. I guess this is it.

are a lot like " sharkystrator " etc , but this is for shure not the option for ecology of poker , and is a must like pokertsras to try to remove those items .lot of poker rooms as "the hive" network are trying to offer fairness games even without a hud.and more and more will banned those tools. i do believe that is a must to be removed from all poker sites.

I use Poker tracker and refuse to pay for it so I hack it once a month to reset the evaluation period.
however its funny when I join a low stakes game the same 2 people join all of the games and seem to never miss a hand, at all. I have lost 1/2 my 70 dollar bankroll due to seeing this countless times. I do not consider myself a week player but something is fishy, every time they join a table they rape anyone playing against them and they win about 75% of hands...something not right! Once I go on tilt I leave and find another table and within a couple minutes they follow once a seat opens.
I have notes on them and labelled so I can avoid joining the tables they are at!
