BLOG: Bah Humbug

And so it becomes. That time of the year I really hate. Christmas. That magical time, when we all celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, God's son who gave his life to save us all. That is how it started anyway. These days it is nothing but a commercial party lasting months in which we are all strongly encouraged to waste our money on over-extravagance. We all fall for it of course. The chi[...]   Read more » Bah Humbug

Bah Humbug indeed! lol.
I do try to see my family often, even the one's I sometimes struggle to connect with, take that either way, distance and opportunity or emotionally and intellectually. I do try to give all year round, both my time and sometimes financially, even on my limited means.

I used to hate turkey for a few years, after working at a silver service hotel over Xmas and staff meals for about 30 days was roast turkey dinner, man I got sick of it!

This year we are having a New Zealand BBQ, so no turkey, we will drink some nice wine and probably some champagne, I will get 2 presents only and I will love every moment.

Let's not cancel Xmas and as in every situation, try to make the best of it and as the New Year approaches, make a resolution (and stick to it) of giving more and being more open to others.

Understanding where others are coming from has it's own reward's in life and in poker and will help you to react accordingly and enable you to maximise your contributions to others in life or their contributions to you in poker.

GL Ice and all Mobster and try to enjoy this holiday season.

3P out.

I really like your idea about the vouchers and i might try this myself. I am not a big fan of Christmas but my kids love it and the day normally ends with me drunk on the sofa, so every cloud and all that!!

Did you know that Jupiter, being the heaviest planet in our solar system, plays a role in the Earth being habitable? It slingshots comets out of the solar system, or pulls them in impacting the surface, thereby taking away some of the risk of Earth collisions.

Think of Christmas as Jupiter, and your family members as comets. It's gravity well sucks them in on Christmas, but protects you from unscheduled impacts for the rest of the year...

I am sure there is a poker lesson in there somewhere but I am too grumpy now to even bother working it out so screw it, let's cancel Christmas.

Grumpy? You are really over that by the 3rd or 4th paragraph, this blogpost is either a trollbait or some serious pseudo window into your brain and 'lemmetellyou' it's not a fun sightseeing tour.
Yeah I know you kinda lamented about what this blogpost should be about but still... It's like reading a manifesto from a cat lady or an angry teenager.
Easily one of the Top5 absurd moment on this site this year.

I dont have a very big family and we are having a Xmas supper.

However gifts have been out of this celebration since a long time ago. The exchange of gifts IMO was a lost of time and money you dont need a gift to feel love of your family and friends.

All year gesture can prove this love and never mind gifts. Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile

Slow roast lamb, sirloin steaks, pork and fennel sausages, with corn on-the-cob and salads followed by pavlova and fruit salad, accompanied with some nice wine and a few beers, then cheese and biscuits to end.

Bring it on!!

I can relate to what IQA is saying,at work I speak to parents from other countries and they are really shocked at the way people in the UK "celebrate" Christmas or in case we offend we're told to call it the "festive holiday".
I may be remembering this with some nostalgia but I always remember this time of year as a relaxing and a happy time of year but I see very few stress free people....unless you are single and young!

...Being single and young isn't all it's cracked up to be klash.... Disagree

But it sure does make Christmas easier, you're right there.
