My 2015  0
Hi everyone, I've decided to make a dedicated thread to detail my play for the year, rather than having hundreds of different threads every time something comment-worthy happens...

So here it is.

On 29th December, I had no money on my Stars account and three days left of Silverstar status. I played in a $100k privilege freeroll and cashed for $0.27, then played a $0.25 90-Man SNG which I finished 6th in for a $1.02 prize... The rest of the day I played 4 $0.25 45-Man SNGs, finishing 7th in one, and out of the money in the others, leaving my bankroll at $0.38 at the end of 29/12/14.

On the 30th, I took my $0.38 to a $0.01/0.02 FL Table and walked away a few minutes later with $1.20. Another 4 $0.25 45-Mans and a 1st and 3rd finish for $3.23 & $1.70 set me up nicely... Another 30 45-Mans played that day brought me 2 more 1st places, a 2nd, 5th & 6th left my bankroll up to around $15.

On the 31st, I played 17 45-Mans, winning 2, coming 2nd in 2 and 5th in 1, for another nice profitable day, leaving my opening bankroll for 2015 at around the $20 mark.

I have a few goals for the year, the first being building my roll up to buy a new laptop, then I would really love to travel... A certain special someone is way too far away from me right now, and she is a great motivation to me. And the final goal is to build up a roll big enough to move up through the stakes at both MTT SNGs and Zoom, and be able to play for a living.

I'll post yearly graphs on this first post for Zoom, SNGs and MTTs - I don't expect to play many MTTs, and don't expect to play ANY regular cash table, but if I do, I'll post graphs for those too.

I didn't get much chance to play on the 1st January, squeezing in just 4 45-Mans, without cashing for a $1 loss, leaving my bankroll at around $19

------------
On the 2nd, I played 42 45-Mans, coming 1st in 3, 2nd in 1 and 4th in 5, for another nice day of profit, leaving my bankroll at around $26

------------
The 3rd was going to be the day I played the 45 mans for 24 hours straight, with the aim of $100 profit, but had to abandon 6 hours in due to laptop problems... Lost $2.86 leaving my roll at around $23

Decided to buy a new laptop immediately after this... so that's my first goal - get the roll up to around $750, playing 2NL Zoom and up to 16 tables of 45-mans...

My first play on Zoom this year has gone relatively well, so bankroll currently sitting at $29.18

Good luck mate looks like you are starting from the very bottom, and it will take some time to get to the top and if you deposit some more money you can play more high stakes and you can get better and you can make more money, but all depends if you have the funds, i know people who are good but still play NL2 as they have no bankroll to move up and tends to not follow bankroll management, also bankroll is very important for SNG!

I will not be depositing at all Heskor, if I go broke, I'll work my way up again from scratch.

It's a lofty target I know, starting from nothing, but my aim is to have a bankroll of over $10k by the end of the year.

My 2015 so far has also been nice, currently on some sharkscope rankings that I want to maintain.
Just gotta stay close to supernova pace.
GL reaching your goals

Nice goals gentleman. Ive decided to move over to ftp for awhile. Gonna test the waters there and see if its easier to build a roll then on ps.

Scratch that spent a few min on ftp n forgot how much i hated it. Tourny selection is pretty terrible. Back to stars

Not bad with setting new goals, but if the money wasn't an obstacle I would change the order
and would put meeting that special one first Smile Laptop and the rest aren't that important.
And these days it is not that expensive travelling, especially when you have where to stay.
Good luck with your goals.

Why are you doing the "start from scratch" thing? You've already proven you can do it. Your goal is to go pro, would it not be more appropriate to try and manage a decent bankroll, and trying to find a level (in terms of #tables, and stakes) that will give you the best hourly rate?

B.t.w. I remember you did pretty good on fastforward (Party Poker). Have you seen the new fastforward missions? They might well suit your needs.

Good luck! I'll be sure to follow this thread.

A very good question, and I'm glad you asked...

As I've said, the whole point is to set me up for life - I'm willing to sacrifice a year or so climbing through the micros to give me a much better understanding, and experience... and eventually skill.

I will also be studying hard throughout the year, and again, feel that will be more beneficially while climbing through the micros, rather than throw myself straight in at a higher level.

Another major part of it is to learn to control my bankroll much better...

Well the problem there is, I can only take time off work if poker is going well... and having a new laptop is quite important for that.

I will likely visit for a week... but that's not really good enough Smile ....I would love to stay... well.... forever. And I can't walk away from my job without having the bankroll to play with....

------------
Truly awful Zoom session just... Feel I was playing well, but my KK ran into AA 3 times preflop - lost every one. Then Twice rivered a straight only for opponents to river full houses... Got all in with nut flush on turn and lost to two pair that boated up on the river... Have to take a break...

I think it is a very good idea to try to play more micro stuff and combine it with studying Poker a lot. Definitely that is the way to improve ones skill more than playing high stakes. But you should not get too low because of course you learn less from weaker opponents.

sounds like you are definatly going in the right direction brother. I have had the fortune of meeting and marrying my earthbound angel already but the thrill and strategy is what drives me. I kind of like your motivation better though. Best of luck with your journey brother. I will be looking forward to the positive updates.

yo yout- congrats for taking the right decision and joining the "intellectually "ma balls shine more than ma brains" club- buying into a single tourney with ~1/5 of your roll can only mean that you are moving in the right direction. of course there is always room for improvements, but i trust in you and surely one day we will see the shrewdest move in poker world- buying into tourney with your whole roll.

The Zoom session annoyed me... Buying into that tourney wasn't exactly tilting, more me going back to where I know I'm best... MTTs. Trying to convince myself I'm as good a cash or SNG player as I am a MTT just isn't going to happen... Needed to take a shot to get a MTT roll, and the earlier I did, the earlier I could rebuild if I lost, or get back to where I want to be if I win something. That was the logic.

Although it jinxed me yesterday.... Currently 6/21 in $2.20 Turbo Progressive KO, $3k Gtd....
