Hello all
In my opinion passion is a term applied to a very strong feeling about a person/something or in this case- poker. Passion in poker also can be describe as an intense emotion,with compelling enthusiasm or desire to win and excel .
In the other hand addiction is a state that is characterized by compulsive engagement in rewarding behavior, despite adverse consequences(gambling) that can also be relate to poker

The line between passion and addiction is very thin, i think i am more of a compulsive gamblers nowadays i need to bet everyday and have something to cheer on when i am watching the games or when i know the games are on and i need to have something on that, well what can i do now my bankroll is busted and no more money to play and just have to resort to filling my addiction by playing freerolls and just sulking in my corner!

The line between the two is very thin and i think that poker colud be passion for some and addiction for others.
IMO the gambler will go on betting on everything like sports, casino and poker. Compare to the poker player that like the game with passion.
The poker player will normally wont play money that he cant afford but the gambler will do and in many occasion will lose everthing that he had like, wife, house, bank account and car.

some say there is a fine line between both, well in a way they are right- you can have an erect penis and a $0 bankroll at the same time... guess you can describe this sort of person as a passionate addict.

so i am pasinate only on this moment but poker is for me a addiction and that with 1 dollar bankroll

From my point of view poker can be both: a passion as well as an addiction. What it is of the two is alway individual and highly depending on your own personality. For me I see it as a passion, but if I dont play long enough I really miss it.

For most guy that begin play poker, is like a passion, they like to learn about the game, and see that pro players, but with the time and stay playing for a few days or weeks or months day after day, hours after hours, and not get winnings or learn, maybe they have get the addiction. For my point, that what i see, poker is a passion when you win, in this case money, but when you lose and try to get back some of that, maybe you are in a state of gambling and addicted, but if you (all), play for a few times, and for another few time dont play and dont miss that thing, you are in a state of passione not addicted.

i would say i am a semi passionate degenerate - sometimes i have an erect penis, sometimes a dollar in my account.

In my opinion it's passion if it makes you fill good even when you lose and it's addiction if it makes you feel unsatisfied even if you win. I am definately in the second group, I hate the game most of the time and winning doesn't satisfy me, as I feel like I must keep on playing. Luckily I almost always play for free money and my life loss is at about 50$

a little bit of both because poker it does contain gambling and chance of winning money and that is addiction but also poker has strategies and skills , and that is the passion
So if you can balance the two , you sure can enjoy the game and make a profit good luck

I totally agree with what you say about passion, but I would really define addiction otherwise. When youre addicted to something, then what is making you unsatisfied is the fact that you dont have it at the moment, i. e. if you dont play, no matter if you win or loose.
