Pin-K-eda: Yankees' ace heats up with 16 K's Righty improves to 5-0, lowers ERA to 2.72 By Danny Knobler / Special to MLB.com
NEW YORK -- Sometime around the fourth inning Sunday, Michael Pineda realized this could be a special day. His strikeout total was building fast, with two in the first, three in the second, two in the third and two in the fourth. "That's a lot of strikeouts," he said later. "I thought, 'It's going to be good.'" It sure was.

Unlucky with our double again yesterday, one team won easily and the other got beaten by the odd run. Today's double is, Tampa Bay Rays to beat the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers to beat Miami Marlins

Harper surges to NL Player of the Week honor Nats outfielder became youngest to homer 5 times in back-to-back games during stretch By Spencer Fordin / MLB.com
This could be the first of many weekly awards for Bryce Harper. Washington's stellar young outfielder was named National League Player of the Week on Monday in recognition of a torrid stretch at the plate in which he led all Major League hitters with six home runs and 13 RBIs. Harper was chosen over a star-studded NL field that included candidates like Atlanta first baseman Freddie Freeman, who batted .500 with seven RBIs last week. Pitchers Shelby Miller of the Braves, Bartolo Colon of the Mets and Ryan Vogelsong of the Giants were also nominated for the NL Player of the Week honors.

Stanton hits one out of the park -- literally Projected 475 feet third-longest homer tracked by Statcast; ball goes over stands in left By Joe Frisaro / MLB.com | @JoeFrisaro
LOS ANGELES -- Giancarlo Stanton wowed the crowd during batting practice, belting at least one home run out of Dodger Stadium. It ended up being a prelude to what was to come once Tuesday night's game began. Stanton launched an awe-inspiring home run off Mike Bolsinger in the first inning that hit the back of the canopy in the left-field pavilion before bouncing out of the stadium. The blast, according to Statcast™, traveled a projected 475 feet with an exit velocity of 114 mph. For Miami, it ended up being the lone bright spot in a game the Dodgers won, 11-1.
