Cubs trip up Bucs in bizarre walk-off win By Tom Singer and Sarah Trotto / MLB.com
CHICAGO -- It started out as a laugher, but it turned into high National League Central drama. The Cubs held off the Pirates on Friday for their fifth straight win, 11-10, in 12 innings, responding to Pittsburgh's erasure of deficits of 7-1 and 10-5 to draw even at 10 on Francisco Cervelli's RBI single with two outs in the ninth.
Cubs: Lester seeks his fourth straight victory in an afternoon game against the Pirates at 3:05 CT. The left-hander allowed three runs (two earned) in six innings in his one career start against Pittsburgh on June 24, 2011, when he was with the Red Sox.

No luck again yesterday with our double, both teams were well beaten, and i apologise for that. Today's double is, St.Louis Cardinals to beat the Detroit Tigers and Chicago Cubs to beat the Pittsburgh Pirates
Ayyy - Rockies, Cardinals did a number on me this morning so my day wasn't started on the right foot, but it's probably too early in the season for me to bet on baseball till all the other sports going still...

College teams goof around during rain delay By Chris Landers
Rain delays usually lend themselves to plenty of goofiness and merriment -- stranding 50 or so young men in the same place with nothing better to do with their time will generally produce at least a few shenanigans. There are the tried-and-true timekillers, like the ol' reliable slip-and-slide, and there are plenty of, uh, more newfangled traditions. But these are mere trivialities, never rising above the level of pleasant distraction. During a rain delay in their game on Friday, though, the University of Louisiana-Lafayette and UL-Monroe baseball teams strived for something more -- immortality, or at least a news cycle or two. Carpe diem, boys, may you rain delay like a champion today.

Stanton hits 478-foot HR; fan barehands it By Joe Frisaro / MLB.com | @JoeFrisaro
MIAMI -- The way Giancarlo Stanton is swinging the bat, the slugger appears to be playing his own game of, "Can I top this?" A day after knocking the ball into the camera well, Stanton went even farther to center field. Stanton's mammoth blast went over the back wall (or batters' eye) with a drive that was caught barehanded by a fan in the corner of the second deck. The drive, according to Statcast™, was tracked at 478 feet and had an exit velocity of 115 mph.

Miller left to ponder one pitch in no-no attempt Chance at history fades with two outs in ninth By Mark Bowman / MLB.com | @mlbbowman
MIAMI -- As Braves pitcher Shelby Miller and A.J. Pierzynski met in front of the mound at the conclusion of Sunday afternoon's 6-0 win over the Marlins, the half-hearted smiles they displayed elicited both frustration and satisfaction. For the second time this month, they had worked together to fashion a shutout. But the long-lasting memories of this gem will focus on the fact that Miller was one out shy of recording his first no-hitter before Marlins first baseman Justin Bour laced a first-pitch, 95-mph fastball up the middle for a two-out single in the ninth.

Bryant finds big-city living to his liking Cubs rookie resides in downtown Chicago during season By Mark Newman / MLB.com
If you think Kris Bryant likes Wrigley Field, then you should see his other friendly confines. The Cubs' rookie third baseman resides in a lofty place high above Wacker Drive and the Chicago River in downtown Chicago, and when Bryant is home, he can seemingly see forever. Bryant gazes through floor-to-ceiling windows at the Willis Tower, Trump Tower and Lake Michigan, taking in the sweeping cityscape views. There is even a rooftop oasis fitting for a Cub, a place to grill, lounge in private cabanas and hang out with friends.
4 singles today Toronto win at home vs L.A. Angels. Boston Red Sox win at home vs Texas Rangers. Atlanta Braves win at home vs Tampa Bay Rays. Chicago White Sox win at home against the Cleveland Indians GL.
