Jays win 10th straight behind Martin's HR Catcher making club's five-year, $82-million commitment look wise By Gregor Chisholm / MLB.com
BOSTON -- The Blue Jays were hoping for a lot of offense from Russell Martin this season, but they weren't necessarily expecting this kind of power. Martin proved once again in Saturday afternoon's 5-4 win over Boston that he is a force to be reckoned with at the plate, with a go-ahead solo homer in the 11th inning. With the game tied at 4, it was Martin's shot over the Green Monster that helped secure his club's 10th consecutive win.

Harper out of Sunday's lineup after HBP All-Star outfielder plunked in left quad during Saturday's win over Brewers By Brandon Curry / MLB.com
MILWAUKEE -- Nationals right fielder Bryce Harper was not in the starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Brewers. Harper was hit by a Michael Blazek fastball on the left quad just above his knee in the ninth inning of Saturday's 7-2 win and exited the game. Harper said after the game on Saturday that if he didn't feel right Sunday, then he wouldn't play. His exit from the game was a precautionary move, according to Nationals manager Matt Williams.

Scherzer nearly perfect while fanning 16 Ace right-hander fans team-record 16 in 1-hitter vs. Brewers By Brandon Curry / MLB.com
MILWAUKEE -- Not many Major League pitchers experience throwing late into what could be a perfect game. Even fewer are left with nine outs and a few inches from perfection. But Nationals starter Max Scherzer found himself there Sunday in Washington's 4-0 win over the Brewers. The right-hander was dominant throughout, retiring the first 18 batters he faced before Brewers center fielder Carlos Gomez blooped a broken-bat single into right field just over the outstretched glove of second baseman Anthony Rendon.

Orange is the new blast: O's hit club-record 8 HRs By Connor Smolensky / MLB.com
BALTIMORE -- Manny Machado led off Tuesday night's bottom of the first inning with a home run to left. What followed was historic. The Orioles set a new franchise record by hitting eight home runs in Tuesday night's 19-3 victory over the Phillies. Six different Baltimore players clubbed homers as the Orioles became the first team to hit eight or more home runs in a game since the Red Sox did so against Detroit on Sept. 4, 2013. "That's the beauty of baseball," Machado said. "You've just got to take it in, don't think about it too much. Take the moment as much as you can, and keep playing baseball."

Grand exit for Reds on Frazier's walk-off slam By Robert Bondy / MLB.com
CINCINNATI -- With two outs in the bottom of the 13th inning, bases loaded and the game tied, Reds third baseman Todd Frazier knew what was coming from Tigers closer Joakim Soria. Frazier had watched teammate Ivan De Jesus Jr. go down on strikes in the at-bat before him, the victim of a breaking ball for strike three. Behind in the count, Frazier knew what was coming. He hit a curveball over the left-center field for a walk-off grand slam in the Reds' 8-4 victory over the Tigers in the wee hours of Thursday morning.
