W is for Wednesday -- and walk-off Angels, White Sox, Rockies nab wins in spectacular fashion
Walk-off wins are a weekly occurrence in baseball, but it's not often that we see three games end in walk-off fashion in one day, let alone on three completely varied plays. Wednesday was one of those rare days -- Walk-off Wednesday, if you will -- as the Angels, White Sox and Rockies each celebrated at home plate.

Schwarber's homer gives Cubs win vs. Giants
CHICAGO -- It sounded and felt like playoff baseball at Wrigley Field on Thursday night, which can only help the young Cubs who are trying to open some space between themselves and the Giants in the Wild Card race. Rookie Kyle Schwarber smacked a three-run homer to lead the Cubs to a 5-4 victory over the Giants, as Chicago moved a half-game ahead of San Francisco in the Wild Card race.

Kershaw's scoreless streak ends at 37 on Polanco's HR Pirates outfielder homers on ace's first pitch in Friday's Dodgers loss
PITTSBURGH -- Clayton Kershaw's scoreless-innings streak ended at 37 in Friday night's 5-4, 10-inning loss to the Pirates on Gregory Polanco's home run. Then Kershaw made his second pitch of the game. "It was a tough one, I struggled all the way through, pretty much" said Kershaw. "Give the Pirates credit. They did a good job battling me the whole night. I didn't have good stuff. Two strikes a few times, I couldn't put anybody away. Both of my breaking balls weren't working the way I wanted to. One of those nights." Kershaw allowed nine hits, four earned runs, with five strikeouts in six innings, needing 97 pitches. He walked two, hit one and had a wild pitch.

Minnesota Vikings vs Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers went to the playoffs last season behind a dynamic offense led by All-Pro QB Ben Roethlisberger. RB Le’Veon Bell will miss the first two games due to suspension, but this offense has the potential to score a lot of points this season.

Jays are Smoakin' hot in Bronx, trail by 2.5
NEW YORK -- Justin Smoak hit a grand slam, Troy Tulowitzki added a solo shot and David Price tossed seven strong innings, as the Blue Jays pulled within 2 1/2 games of New York for first place in the American League East with a 6-0 victory over the Yankees on Saturday at Yankee Stadium. Toronto picked up its seventh consecutive victory and will have a chance to go for the sweep on Sunday afternoon. New York has dropped six of its last 10, which has caused a seven-game lead in the division to quickly dissipate.

Pirates erupt with 9-run 7th, sweep Dodgers
PITTSBURGH -- The Pirates erupted for nine runs against the Dodgers' bullpen in the seventh inning Sunday night, sending PNC Park's sellout crowd into a frenzy and completing a three-game sweep with a 13-6 win. Dodgers right-hander Jim Johnson allowed eight of those runs on six hits and a walk while only recording two outs. Pittsburgh entered the inning trailing by two runs but pounded out seven hits, five of them with two outs, and quickly put the game out of reach.

Cueto feeds off energy at The K to finish shutout
KANSAS CITY -- It was a postseason atmosphere Monday night at Kauffman Stadium with Johnny Cueto on the mound making his Royals home debut, and 36,672 screaming fans giving him an ovation every time he strolled back to the dugout. Cueto certainly didn't disappoint, tossing a four-hit shutout, the sixth shutout of his career, and the Royals rolled past the Tigers, 4-0. "I wasn't expecting it," Cueto said, smiling, "but I earned it."

Blue Jays soar over A's for 9th straight win
TORONTO -- The Blue Jays put together a three-run second inning with help from a pair of A's miscues, and Jose Bautista chipped in with a solo shot in the fifth in support of right-hander Drew Hutchison, who held Oakland to two runs across seven-plus innings in a series-opening 4-2 victory, Toronto's ninth in a row. With the Yankees' loss to the Indians Tuesday, the Blue Jays are a half-game out of first in the American League East.
