Lyons makes spot start for Cards vs. Hendricks, Cubs
By Carrie Muskat / MLB.com | May 5, 2015

• Yadier Molina is expected back in the lineup for St. Louis on Tuesday after being given the day off in the series opener. Molina, who is 3-for-27 since missing two games with right knee soreness, was rested after catching every inning of three straight extra-inning games.
• Cardinals outfielder Matt Holliday will enter Tuesday's game having reached base safely in all 24 games he's played this season. His on-base streak is currently the longest in the Majors.
• Cubs catcher Miguel Montero is riding a six-game hitting streak. Even though he'd rather play every day, he's benefited from the extra rest afforded him because the Cubs are carrying three catchers on the roster.

Greinke wins 10th straight decision
By Ken Gurnick and Adam McCalvy / MLB.com

MILWAUKEE -- Zack Greinke remained undefeated since August and the Dodgers hit three home runs to power past the Brewers, 8-2, at Miller Park on Tuesday.
Justin Turner hit a go-ahead, three-run home run in the sixth inning and Jimmy Rollins and Adrian Gonzalez added two-run shots in the seventh to back Greinke, who hasn't lost a decision since these Brewers beat him last Aug. 9. He improved to 10-0 with a 1.99 ERA in 14 starts since that defeat by holding his former team to one unearned run on two hits over 7 2/3 innings.

A-Rod passes Mays with 661st career homer
Yankees slugger receives curtain call after moving into 4th on all-time list
By Bryan Hoch / MLB.com | @BryanHoch

NEW YORK -- One big swing had altered the record books on Thursday, as Alex Rodriguez pushed ahead of Willie Mays on baseball's all-time home run list, and now the slugger found himself bounding up the dugout steps for what he recently thought would be an even more improbable achievement: a Yankee Stadium curtain call.
Rodriguez connected for the 661st home run of his career, a third-inning solo blast to center field off the Orioles' Chris Tillman in a 4-3 Yankees victory. Rodriguez pumped his fist as he rounded first base and was warmly received in the dugout by his teammates, as well as by the cheering crowd of 39,816.

2-year-old's recovery, 1st pitch 'incredible'
Jameson Axford suffered snake bite during Spring Training
By Owen Perkins / Special to MLB.com

DENVER -- It was like Opening Day all over again -- only better -- for Rockies closer John Axford on Friday.
When the Rockies started their season in Chicago, his mind was with his 2-year-old son, Jameson, who was struggling to recover from two rattlesnake bites on his foot suffered during Spring Training in Arizona. Doctors called it the worst bite they'd seen, and Jameson has been fighting to heal ever since, dealing with an array of medical procedures to recover damaged tissue, muscle and skin. . .

Harper does it again: Walk-off sinks Braves
By Bill Ladson and Ben Raby / MLB.com | @washingnats

WASHINGTON -- The Nationals saw a five-run lead evaporate in the late innings, but they managed to win Saturday's game, 8-6, in the bottom of ninth inning on a two-run home run by Bryce Harper.
With a runner on first and Atlanta right-hander Cody Martin on the mound, Harper swung at a 1-0 pitch and hit the ball over the right-center-field wall to end the game. Harper now has six home runs in his last three games.

Pirates turn MLB's first 4-5-4 triple play
By Tom Singer / MLB.com | @Tom_Singer

PITTSBURGH -- The Pirates celebrated Mother's Day one day early with the mother of all pitchers' best friends -- the triple play -- but this time it was a historic one, the first 4-5-4 triple play ever seen in the Major Leagues.
With Cardinals on second and third and none out in the second inning of Saturday's 7-5 win at PNC Park, Pirates second baseman Neil Walker caught Yadier Molina's rising liner within feet of the second-base bag, left vacant by baserunner Jason Heyward.
