EPT Malta: Max Silver Tops Massive Day 1B Field

A massive field of 629 runners entered Day 1B of the EPT Malta Main Event, which brings the total to 899 entries - with registration open until tomorrow at noon. This means that the tournament is already the second-largest debut for a new destination on the European Poker Tour. Max Silver from London, England, made it through the second starting day (among approximately 375 players) with the chip[...]   Read more » EPT Malta: Max Silver Tops Massive Day 1B Field

What a massive tournament this has turned out to be and the prize pool will be huge. Looking at the list of well known players left in, whoever wins will have earned every penny

Only 260 players turned up for day 1 but 629 entered day 2......any particular reason for that?Looking at the fields from each day I think the players from day 1 definitely got the easiest competition.
A lot of the big name German players are out already but a couple of players I think are hot right now are Dominic Panka and another Polish player Michalak and a couple of Brits Jack Salter and Simon Higgins.

The name of Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier caught my attention when i was looking to the top list. He must be one of the most known players around there, but that means few, when we're talking about fighting for big sums. Experience can make the difference, but first you have to get there. Looking at the actual ranking we could advance he's not risking that much, prefering to keep in the dark at this point of the tourney. Can this be strategy? Of course yes, but if you have a hand in which you can try to win bigger and your opponents put themselves in a position that is favourable to you, you will use that in your favour, which means you won't loose the chance to increase your stack just because you're thinking about keeping in the dark for longer time.

Onto day 3 now and at I only jinxed two of my picks....it appears Michalak has busted and Salter went a few minutes ago but the other two are still in the tournament and look to be doing fine.Sam Trickett was on fire and has built up a decent good stack and will be very dangerous.

yeah not many players i know of just Gruissem came to mind and Jake Cody , otherwise the other one i do not know and think that they might be the new generation or the players that was around but never got to win as there was always better players around. Anyway good luck if anyone watching the event have fun, it is always good to watch some poker when you have nothing else to do cheers, have fun at the tables!

I am playing the EPT live freeroll everyday at 19:15 CET on Ppokerstars. It is for 2.000 dollar, which is really not bad at all for PS. Unfortunately there are nearly always close to 30.000 guys playing in this tournament.

I just looked at the chip counts and only 39 players left so getting to the exciting part now.Dominic Panka still holding on,just, and my favourite Carlo Citrone is the short stack. There are lots of the less well known players left and I expect the final table will have great stories about players who have never won this kind of tournament before.

Let us hope, that this will be the case, because although I like to see the big stars (especially when they are winning regularly, because it shows, that poker is not all about luck), but if an unknown wins I always think that could be me.
