If the company providing the vpn service is located in the US, this can happen. But usually they offer different entry points. Just switch to something with less restrictive laws about online gambling.

Posted by tonespoker: Only thing that has changed on my end is downloading a VPN but I seriously doubt that would affect my location status for PS, or would it?
It depends what your VPN is for. If all your internet traffic is routed through the VPN, then any server you connect to, will see only the IP that belongs to the VPN server.
A common use for VPNs is to make your location appear to be inside USA, so you'll be able to register for the american NetFlix/Hulu etc
If it's a VPN to connect to your workplace's network, usually only the companies network range will be routed over the VPN, and they won't use the VPN for all your other websites/services.
Just stop your VPN, and see if the problem goes away.
Also try http://www.whatismyip.com/ You'll be able to see what external servers will think your IP is, and where it resides.
