Ok - I'm thinking this post is quite results orientated, and I actually played the hand well - so i'm just wanting someone to agree with me ha ha- Heads up on the final table of Corals winner takes all free roll £5 cash for the winner and thats it.
total chips in play 240k blinds are at 10k/20k 5k ante.
I have 110k. in the bb. and have A9o
he min raises to 40K from the button.
FIRST QUESTION? SHOULD THIS BE AN INSTA JAM?
I flat call.
Flop comes 9 3 7 rainbow.
Top pair- feel good. I check to him- thinking he'd fold if i jam.
He checks behind.
SHOULD I GET IT IN HERE?
turn 2
I bet 20k.
He reraises all in, i call. He shows 62- I'm crushing him.

Come on. You have only a bit over 5 BB at the beginning of the hand, and opponent minraises you. This is an easy shove with A high here. Just calling and folding if you missed the flop is no option.

Although I totally agree with shokaku (ie, I'm shoving the A9 100% of the time in that situation)... the preflop line isn't horrible.
With the A9, I want to get called... so essentially by flatting, you're going all in in stages to increase the chance of a call... but you HAVE TO bet that flop. Firstly, any pair will call you all in and you're only behind sets and overpairs... and secondly because there are so many possible hand combinations you don't want to be giving a free turn to. 45, 56, 58, 68, 8T, TJ... all these hands are dangerous.
At heads-up, try not to concentrate on being deceptive, and just get your chips in when you believe you're in front.

I wouldnt jam preflop, but for sure I would raise or jam it on flop... you cant aford to get him free cards like in this situation.... Because there is always big chance that he will improve if you giving him free cards
