Yesterday I was in a tournament after half an hour I get JJ, no raisers in front of me and I raise 4 x BB, everyone folds except one player calls All-in, I have 3 times his stack so I call he shows KQ and makes an overpair on the board.
Half an hour later again I get JJ, this time I raise 5 X BB ( not the same table anymore) again everyone folds and one player goes All-in, I call and he shows QQ and I loose. We had the same amount of chips so I am out.
So what to do with these jacks ? you think I shoulden't have called the all-in ?

I only play sit n go's and in early stage i only play JJ in late position, in early position i just fold JJ. In middle stage i allways play JJ, depends what position what i do. In final stage you have to take risk so JJ is perfect cards to go allin.
Poeinkie, i think i would lay down the first 1 cos blinds are sometin like 50/100? The 2nd one is tricky, blinds go fast after 1 hour so you have to take risks... I think the 2nd one i play same as you, only QQ KK AA are better then you, you cant fold every good hand in tourney then you blinding out

Doomdy,
Yeah first time the blinds were like 50/100 but I was in late position. But I think you're right it was to early to go all-in besides I already trippled my stack. They are hard to throw away though they always 'smile' to me

The 2nd time you made youself pot commited?(assumption as ther is no figures), you could have pushed all in(preflop), or min raise and c-bet, the 5x is IMO the downfall. The first 1 is hard cus again no figures, but looks like a fold, wait for a better time to catch, i guess you dubbled him up and now you have even stacks?

JJ is a shitty hand to play for all of ones chips. If it gets really interessting you have a flip at best. It is a typical trouble hand. To strong to play weak, to weak to play really strong. Good timing helps definatly.

Yep. This is the main problem. You will see more flops with at least one overcard then not. And figuring out if one is still ahead is not easy in those situations, espacially out of position. But most hurt if there is a "save" flop and you run your jacks (and your stack) into a higher overpair.

Posted by fochizza: Or the river brings A or K and your up agenst someone who cant fold AK on the flop.
Charge him on the turn. If he calls a good sized bet there and you do not pay him off if a A or K should hit the river you should be able to win some money in the long run.
