The next merger?  0
Looks like Ladbrokes and Gala-Coral are in talks to form a single company. Could be the next round of concentration in the online gaming business, after the bwin-Party and Stars-Full Tilt mergers.

I just saw a news story on this subject and this seems to be the norm now with the big firms swallowing up the established competition. As always the ordinary gambler is having their choice narrowed.
I seem to remember that Ladbrokes also tried to get 888 recently as well so maybe this may not happen. If this happened Ladbrokes would own nearly 50% of the UK betting shops so maybe the monopoly would not be allowed.

Yeah they are getting smarter nowadays, like the saying if you cannot beat some body join them, all of those parties coming together will ultimately hurt tho poor gamblers that is us as we will get less bookies and so on out there and therefore less competition , poor odds and poor bonuses, anyway we cannot do anything about it , just have to deal with it and look for other edge, anyway good luck and have fun at the tables guys. Cheers Big Smile

If they merge, i believe they will have better chances standing against other in today's market.
Besides Ladbrokes, the other two ones, i think they are small players.
So if they are having problems, this might be, their last chance to stay online.

Could be. And I am afraid no good will come from this tbh. I mean neither bwin/party nor ps/flltilt did not improve - 4 me at least - after their mentioned mergers, in my opinion bwin even went in total nosedive mode so we will see what is going to happen.

Not sure what the online business of these 3 are like,I think Coral do OK but in terms of bricks and mortar bookies the merger would mean that Ladbrokes would dominate the High Street bookies with nearly 50%.
The share prices were going up on the announcement so someone somewhere thought it would be a good investment.

Ladbrokes is a well known name in betting for many years now. The other twos sites must have some distance between them. Maybe it was a scheme to just raise the value of the stocks,
since klash says that the prices went up.
