Do you think 2 years is a reasonable time frame for this challenge

Like I said 2 times, and I will say third time now.... Main mistake in playing poker is BANKROLL MENAGMENT!!! you must grind if you want to reach your goal... as you said you have 2 year you need to complete your challange, than why r you trying to complete it in 1 month??? Just trust me proper bankroll menagment rule!!!

This is a real shame, you were doing well. Maybe your initial profits were outside proper bankroll management as well? In that case you are just gambling, and the results are meaningless.
You need to define which levels you'll play with which bankroll, and when you will move up, and when you move down again, after a downswing, and stick to it.
The way you are playing now, you'll either bust out soon, or reach your goal well within 2 years (but that will require a large amount of luck).
I wish you the best of bankroll management (normally I'd wish you the best of luck, but this seems more appropriate)!

That was a huge mistake you did, raising your limits. Like a rookie that hasnt played ever poker before in his life As noted above bankroll management is a must. Good thing you still have the money you started with. Just dont repeat the same mistake and good luck.

It has been a few days since I have been able to play any poker. I might be able to get in a short 1 hour long session later today. Will definately be able to play over the weekend. So the challenge will be back on tomorrow at the latest. I will update you as soon as I play another session.

I hope that this small break of your has charged you positively and you are ready to hit the tables with the same results, you had when you started it. And dont forget the key factor of course which is bankroll management . Good luck.

Well it has been 4 days since I have been able to play any poker. Today is the 18th so after five days of resting on the side of this cliff face. I shall once again begin climbing the poker money mountain. I will be playing multiple tables of NL2. (0.01/0.02 NL Texas Holdem) It is going to be a long climb to reclaim my former level but proper bankroll management demands I must play at the lowest level at this time.

I just finished grinding out a 2 hour long poker session. I played on 10 tables for a short time but then dropped it back to just 8 tables. Personally I seem to prefer only playing on 4 tables at a time, it is a nice relaxed pace and I can really watch the action on all 4 of my tables easily. I also do not seem to get mentally tired as fast so I can play longer and more sessions each day. So from now on I have decided to only play 4 tables maximum at one time.
I played so many tables for two reasons.
1. I know that I would be able to handle the pace. 2. I wanted to increase my odds of building up my bankroll to a point where I could move up in stakes and still be inside proper bankroll management.
I started with a bankroll of $74.84 US$
My new current bankroll is ... 101.95 US$
Going to take a rest for an hour or two before playing another session.

So you are back on track with good results. And the profit is a very good one from one session. Just dont get carried away again and make your last mistake. There is no need playing in higher limits, since you are doing well on this one with a good, and most important, steady profit.

Just finished my 2nd session today and it is another positive finish. Started with $101.95 and finished with $118.67 I now have the bankroll to play NL4 and to take a 2 table shot at NL10. I might be able to play one more session today as well. It would be great to finish the day above $125.

Posted by bowie1984: Yeah, keep on grindin' out Ronin but you yet again starting to carry away with the limits. I am in no way to give out advices to you but you are not really in need to change pace every week or so - u could take your time, nobody wants you to rush this.

You are right amigo. I decided to go take an hour long nap at 8 pm instead of taking a shot at moving up in stakes already. So my 1 hour nap was supposed to end at 9pm, then I was planning on playing my third session of the day. I awoke at 1:20am because I need to go to the washroom, so I slept for like 5 hours. I have decided on the following...
So here is my current plan for building my bankroll.
I want to maintain 40 buy ins at whatever level I am currently playing on. Once I get an additional four buy ins for the level above my current level, I will take a 4 table shot at moving up in stakes. I will allow myself to only lose 2 of my increased buy ins before, I MUST drop back down to the lower level to once again rebuild my bankroll back up to the point where I can take another shot.
What that actually means is this...
I will be starting with a bankroll of $75 US. I will play NL2 (0.01/0.02) Texas Holdem. I know that $75 is less than 40 buy ins, but it is what I will be starting with. I will make my 1st attempt to move up to NL5 (0.02/0.05) when my bankroll reaches $100 US. I will continue to play NL5 until I drop below $90, unless I am successful in which case I will keep on playing at the higher level until I have 40 buy ins for NL5 plus 4 buy ins for NL10 (0.05/0.10) at which point I take a new shot again at moving up again.
So start at NL2 and progress through each stage when appropriate.
Phase 1- NL2 until I reach $100 US. Phase 2- NL5 start $100 until I reach $240 US. Phase 3- NL10 start $240 until I reach $500 US. Phase 4- NL25 start $500 until I reach $1200 US. Phase 5- NL50 start $1200 until I reach $2400 US. Phase 6- NL100 start $2400 until I reach $5000 US.
I do not plan to play at stakes higher than NL100.
This play structure should answer any questions as to how I plan to progress through this challenge.
