Calgary-Arizona Coyotes 03:00 2,10 3,80 2,80
Coyotes team scope: Arizona goaltender Louis Domingue will make his fifth consecutive start. Goalie Mike Smith (abdominal surgery) has been out since Dec. 8. "Right now he's the No. 1 option because he's played so well," Tippett told the Coyotes website. Forward Martin Hanzal (lower body), who has missed 11 of the past 12 games, will return. As a result, forward Laurent Dauphin, 20, was reassigned to Springfield of the American Hockey League. Defenseman Zbynek Michalek practiced, but remains questionable; he is day-to-day because of an upper-body injury. This is the finale of a three-game trip through Western Canada for the Coyotes (1-0-1). Captain Shane Doan has seven goals in the past four games.
Flames team scope: Calgary goalie Karri Ramo is expected to start his 11th consecutive game Thursday. He has started 22 of 26 games since being recalled from Stockton of the AHL on Oct. 29. Forward Jiri Hudler (lower body) did not practice Wednesday and missed the Flames' 3-1 win at home against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday. "[Hudler] will be off the ice for basically a week," coach Bob Hartley told the Flames website. "We have no target dates yet on his return, but we're going to make all decisions possible in his best interest to make sure he is healed at 100 percent." Forward Michael Frolik (upper body), out since Dec. 15, has resumed practicing and is close to a return.
All home team wins tonight in the N.H.L. The New York Islanders mini upset over the Washington Capitals. The Ottawa Senators snap the Florida Panthers 10 game winning streak. The Minnesota Wild win a close game at home vs the Philly Flyers and the Dallas Stars win @ home vs the Winnipeg Jets GL.

N.J.Devils-Boston Bruins 01:00 2,40 3,80 2,40
Bruins team scope: It's the first of a five-game road trip for Boston. Defenseman Adam McQuaid was placed on injured reserve Thursday because of an upper-body injury and the Bruins recalled forward David Pastrnak from Providence of the American Hockey League. Pastrnak, 19, who has two goals and four points in 10 NHL games this season, joined the Bruins for practice at Ristuccia Memorial Arena in Wilmington, Mass., on Thursday. He had one goal and four points in four games for the Czech Republic at the 2016 IIHF World Junior Championship. Forward Brad Marchand will serve the final game of his three-game suspension for clipping Ottawa Senators defenseman Mark Borowiecki on Dec. 29. The Bruins also are without forward David Krejci because of an upper-body injury. Krejci will not make the trip to New Jersey. "[The injuries] are just another thing to make our team stronger," forward Matt Beleskey told the Bruins website. "Someone else has to step up and I don't have any doubt in here that someone will."
Devils team scope: New Jersey did not practice Thursday after losing 2-1 at the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday, their second straight loss. Mike Cammalleri, who has missed the past games because of an upper-body injury, was placed on injured reserve Thursday, retroactive to Dec. 30. Forward Tyler Kennedy (upper body) was injured during warmups and defenseman John Moore (lower body) was injured after blocking a shot by forward Brendan Gallagher 4:17 into the first period. Kennedy and Moore each are questionable for Friday. Forward Mike Sislo replaced Kennedy in the lineup. Forwards Patrik Elias (right knee) and Jacob Josefson (left foot) remain out. "When you get several injuries, a lot of times what happens is then you become out of sync," Devils coach John Hynes told NorthJersey.com. "Your special teams become out of sync. Sometimes your line combinations become out of sync. And I think you saw that a little bit [against Montreal] on special teams, which was unfortunate for us. But we'll find a way to regroup and make sure we're prepared to play against Boston."

San Jose Sharks-Toronto ML 01:00 2,10 3,80 2,80
Maple Leafs team scope: Toronto, which concludes a three-game California trip, had its three-game winning streak end with a 2-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday and could start Jonathan Bernier in net. Bernier, who was 0-8-3 after getting the loss against San Jose, is 6-2-0 since, and has won his past three starts, making 39 saves in each game. Goaltender James Reimer returned from a groin injury and made 39 saves on Thursday. "I thought [Reimer] was good, all in all," Toronto coach Mike Babcock told the Toronto Sun. After the game, Reimer said he didn't feel "any ill effects at all" from his injury. The Maple Leafs are 14-8-3 since a 2-8-4 start to the season.
Sharks team scope: San Jose recalled center Chris Tierney from the San Jose Barracuda of the American Hockey League on Friday and he is expected to play. Sharks coach Pete DeBoer told the San Jose Mercury News that forward Dainius Zubrus has a minor injury and is day-to-day. DeBoer also tweaked his forward lines at practice and had Tomas Hertl on the top line with Pavelski and Joe Thornton. "I think it’s time, we're at the point of the season where we need some production," DeBoer said. "Not just Tomas Hertl, but a lot of those guys. They know how we want to play and they know the expectation. We're at the point of the season now where if you're getting 12, 14, 15 minutes a night, we need some production and the good teams get that." This is the finale of a five-game homestand for San Jose, which is 1-3-0 in the first four games.

Anaheim Ducks-Detroit RW 02:00 2,30 3,80 2,50
Red Wings team scope: Goalies Petr Mrazek will make his fifth straight start, with Jimmy Howard starting Monday against the Los Angeles Kings, coach Jeff Blashill said. He also said he will dress the same skaters from a 2-1 win at the San Jose Sharks on Thursday. The Red Wings have won three straight games on a six-game road trip. In three starts in 2016, Mrazek is 3-0-0 with a 1.34 goals-against average, .957 save percentage and one shutout. Defenseman Kyle Quincey will return Monday; he hasn't played since Oct. 23 because of an ankle injury. Detroit waived defenseman Jakub Kindl on Saturday to make room.
Ducks team scope: Defenseman Clayton Stoner, who hasn't played since Jan. 1, could be in the lineup for Anaheim, which continues a season-long eight game homestand. "The [Red Wings] can skate, they can move the puck, they've got some really good skill up front, some good [defensemen], so we definitely have to make sure we stay out of the box against them," center Nate Thompson said Saturday. The Ducks are 5-1-1 in their past seven games and have gone 16-9-5 since starting the season with one win in 10 games. "It's been an uphill battle from starting so badly," forward Andrew Cogliano said. "But if we play games like we did [Friday] and like we did on that road trip, we're going to win more games than we lose hopefully." Defenseman Simon Despres, who hasn't played since Oct. 16 with concussion-like symptoms, practiced Saturday but won't play.
