Kings team scope: Center Anze Kopitar is day-to-day because of a lower-body injury sustained Thursday during the first period of a 2-1 overtime loss at the St. Louis Blues, according to LA Kings Insider. Los Angeles held an optional practice in at Bridgestone Arena on Friday. Kopitar was at the arena but refused to speak with reporters, according to the Los Angeles Times. Kopitar leads Los Angeles with 51 points, and he's one of six Kings to play all 57 games this season. The Kings are 18-10-3 on the road, but have lost three straight and are 2-3-1 entering the finale of a seven-game trip. Their Pacific Division lead has shrunk to two points. "We have to start winning some games," Carter told the Times. "We've lost all our room [in the standings] now and we've got to start scoring some goals."

Predators team scope: Nashville had an optional practice Friday. The Predators have split the first two games of a three-game homestand and are coming off a 2-0 win against the Boston Bruins on Thursday. Nashville is averaging 2.60 goals per game this season, down from 2.76 in 2014-15. General manager David Poile addressed the offensive deficiencies when he acquired center Ryan Johansen from the Columbus Blue Jackets on Jan. 6. In 18 games since then they are averaging 2.72 goals per game, and Poile told The Tennessean on Friday that he's hoping to see more consistency from the current group before he makes any more trades. "I truly believe it's there because we have seen it on occasion," he said. "But not regularly enough. We saw it a lot on a consistent basis last year. I truly believe that the best is yet to come for our hockey club." Forward Filip Forsberg has five goals in his past five games. His goal against the Bruins was his 20th of the season.

N.Y.Rangers-Detroit RW 01:00 2,00 3,80 3,00

Red Wings team scope: Detroit brings a five-game road losing streak to New York after a 3-2 shootout loss to the Ottawa Senators (0-4-1). The Red Wings have been outscored 21-10 in those games but felt they made progress Saturday. "We played better," captain Henrik Zetterberg told FOX Sports Detroit. "Obviously, we want two points when we come back and play a little bit better. We kind of gave away a few points here lately … but we get one and we move on to the Rangers tomorrow." Forward Dylan Larkin (illness), Detroit's leading goal-scorer, did not play, but coach Jeff Blashill expects him back. Howard may start after Petr Mrazek was shaken up by a shot near his neck in the first period before staying in the game to make 25 saves.

Rangers team scope: Defenseman Ryan McDonagh will not play; he has neck spasms and a jaw contusion following an elbow to the face from Toronto Maple Leafs forward Leo Komarov on Thursday. McDonagh did not practice Saturday and will be replaced in the lineup by Dylan McIlrath. "[Ryan] seems to be doing OK, and we're all thankful for that," defenseman Marc Staal told Blueshirtsunited.com on Saturday. "I'm just happy that [he's] going to be OK." Nash, who has missed 11 games with a bone bruise, will not play and was downgraded to week-to-week. Forward Daniel Paille was placed on waivers, and the Rangers will recall a player from Hartford of the American Hockey League to take his place on the fourth line with Dominic Moore and Tanner Glass. "We've tried different players on that line and we're still looking for a combination to make us a more effective four-line team," coach Alain Vigneault said.

Montreal-Nashville Predat. 01:30 2,40 3,80 2,40

Predators team scope: Predators defenseman Barret Jackman left the game in the second period with an upper-body injury and did not return in a 2-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday. The Predators will update his status at the morning skate on Monday. Nashville has at least a point in five straight games (2-0-3) and lost 10 of 11 overtime games this season. The Predators did not practice Sunday before leaving for Montreal, where they will play the first of three road games in four nights. "We'll figure it out," Weber told the Tennessean after the loss to Los Angeles. "Obviously, we're not trying to lose and it's frustrating right now, but we've got to try to find some way to figure it out. ... For some reason, we have no confidence in overtime, and the results are lacking because of it." Forward Gabriel Bourque was recalled from his long-term injury loan with Milwaukee of the American Hockey League on Sunday. He remains on injured reserve and has not played for Nashville since he sustained an upper-body injury on Nov. 27.

Canadiens team scope: Coach Michel Therrien said he will go with the "win-and-stay-in" philosophy in net. Rookie Mike Condon expects to make his second straight start Monday after making 35 saves in the Canadiens' 3-2 shootout win against the Philadelphia Flyers on Friday. Montreal, which returned from a 0-3-0 road trip, extended its home winning streak to four games. Defenseman Tom Gilbert did not practice after sustaining a lower-body injury on Friday. Forward Paul Byron, who scored the game-winning goal in the fifth round of the shootout, was impressed with the capacity crowd that filled Bell Centre for a public practice Sunday. "I think we have the best fans in the world right now, and they still believe in us," Byron said. "We're not far out. We're going to keep pushing, keep working hard and do everything we can for them, and to have their support all the time like that it's a good feeling to be a player and knowing that all the fans, all the people have your back behind you and we're doing our best to try and do everything we can to make the playoffs."

Minnesota-N.Y.Islanders 02:00 2,30 3,80 2,50

Islanders team report: New York begins a five-game road trip against Western Conference opponents without Grabovski (upper body) and defenseman Calvin de Haan (lower body), who did not travel with the team. The Islanders placed de Haan on injured reserve on Sunday (retroactive to Feb. 15) but coach Jack Capuano said he hopes the injury won't keep him out long. "We'll leave him home to start to get some rehab," Capuano told the team website. "Then as we move forward hopefully he'll be able to join us at some point during this trip." The Islanders recalled defenseman Ryan Pulock from Bridgeport of the American Hockey League on Monday. Forward Steve Bernier is expected to take Grabovski's spot in the lineup.

Wild team report: Minnesota could be without forward Jason Zucker, who left the 2016 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series game against the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday. Zucker was hurt in the second period when the back of his head appeared to have hit the ice after a hit by Blackhawks defenseman Michal Rozsival. The Wild did not practice on Monday and interim coach John Torchetti was not available for an update. Torchetti has won all four games since replacing Mike Yeo on Feb. 13; the Wild have scored 21 goals during that span. "This is about confidence and [Torchetti] gave everyone a restart and a reset button, and you see it in our game," forward Thomas Vanek told the Minnesota Star Tribune "We're scoring goals, we're getting leads and we're not afraid to hold the lead and keep going after it." Torchetti makes his Xcel Energy Center debut; Minnesota has lost eight straight games in its home arena dating back to Dec. 28.
