ArizCoy-Anaheim Ducks 03:00 3,00 3,80 2,00

Ducks team scope: Anaheim is seeking to match a franchise record with a 10th consecutive victory Thursday; the Ducks made it nine in a row with a 3-2 shootout victory against the Montreal Canadiens at Honda Center on Wednesday. The Ducks swept a five-game homestand and are tied with the Los Angeles Kings for first place in the Pacific Division with 78 points. Ryan Getzlaf had his 11-game point streak ended; right wing Corey Perry has four goals and an assist in his past two games after going four games without a point. "It's nice to see where we've come, but at the end of the day you still have 20 games or whatever it is left," Perry told the Ducks website. "You have to go out and keep pushing." Defenseman Simon Despres did not play Wednesday because of an illness. Goalie Frederik Andersen is expected to start Thursday.

Coyotes team scope: Arizona went 0-5-0 on a five-game road trip and has lost a season-high six in a row, including a 6-0 defeat against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday. Forward Alex Tanguay, who was acquired from the Colorado Avalanche with prospects Connor Bleackley and Kyle Wood in a trade for forward Mikkel Boedker on Monday, practiced Wednesday. Tanguay skated with Antoine Vermette and Duclair. "I'll have the same approach I've always had - take it one game at a time and prepare as best as possible," Tanguay told the Coyotes website. "I'm happy. There's a lot of talent here. There's a lot of young guys and a good mix of veterans." Forward Viktor Tikhonov rejoined the Coyotes on Wednesday after his wife gave birth to their second child Monday.

Columbus-Edmonton Oilers 01:00 2,10 3,80 2,80

Oilers team scope: Goalie Cam Talbot made 35 saves in a 4-0 victory at the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday. It was his second shutout this season and third in five career games against Philadelphia. The Oilers, who have won three straight, including the first two of a four-game road trip, blocked a season-high 28 shots. "When they're willing to put their bodies in those shooting lanes and block the shots with not much padding, it says a lot about them, a lot about their willingness to win," Talbot said. "When we're doing the right things like that, there's not too many games we're not going to come out on top." Backup Laurent Brossoit is expected to make his second start of the season. Coach Todd McLellan said the Oilers realized something after going 1-4-1 on their Feb. 11-23 homestand. "We've learned by trial and error that the cute, fancy homestand we tried to play wasn't going to do it," he said. "We're a proud group, so we took it upon ourselves to be a scrappy, relentless, tenacious-type team. We're not always that yet."

Blue Jackets team scope: Columbus, which has won two of its past three games, tweaked its lines at practice Thursday, with Nick Foligno moving up to the second line and Brandon Saad dropping down to the third. Coach John Tortorella told The Columbus Dispatch he's looking to get more offense out of his second, third and fourth lines. "We've gotten a lot of offense out of [the top line centered by Brandon Dubinsky]," he said. "They're all over the scoring-chance sheet for us. I don't think we've been consistent enough with the other lines, so we switched those guys to see if we can spark something and get [Foligno] in a situation where he's playing with [center Alexander Wennberg]. We'll see. I'm not sure where it goes, but we'll see what happens." Foligno, who had an NHL career-high 31 goals last season, has scored nine in 55 games. Rookie goalie Joonas Korpisalo is expected to start; he allowed five goals on 35 shots against the Oilers on Feb. 2. The Blue Jackets know they will have to do a better job against McDavid this time. "He never, never, ever looks at the puck," defenseman Dalton Prout told the newspaper. "You can't defend him 1-on-1. You have to do it as a team."

Toronto ML-Ottawa Senators 01:00 2,80 3,80 2,10

Senators team scope: Phaneuf will play against his old team for the first time since the trade. "There are obviously different emotions when you've played for an organization for a long time and then you go back for the first time," Phaneuf told the Senators website. "I've been through that before (with the Maple Leafs and returning to play the Calgary Flames), but to be completely honest my focus is within our room here." Ottawa has gone 5-5-1 since the Phaneuf trade. Goalie Andrew Hammond is expected to start. Craig Anderson (left knee) briefly participated in Ottawa's optional skate Friday and ruled himself out for Saturday and Sunday against the Dallas Stars.

Maple Leafs team scope: Toronto has gone 2-9-1 since Phaneuf's departure. The former Maple Leafs captain has the respect of his former teammates. "When things weren't going great, he was an easy target," center Nazem Kadri told the Toronto Star. "In actual fact, he was the one who kept the team together. Things could have fallen apart a lot worse if he was not there." Toronto did not practice on Friday. Forwards Brad Boyes (upper body), Byron Froese (broken hand) and PA Parenteau (upper body) remain out. Forwards Joffrey Lupul, Tyler Bozak, James van Riemsdyk and Milan Michalek, and defenseman Stephane Robidas, are on injured reserve. Goalie Garret Sparks has given up two goals in each of his two starts since being recalled, with a .920 save percentage.

Chicago-Detroit RW 23:00 2,00 3,80 3,00

Red Wings team scope: Detroit hasn't played since losing to Chicago; the defeat ended a five-game point streak (3-0-2). "[Wednesday] night wasn't good enough," coach Jeff Blashill told MLive.com. "I think we got away with some odd-number rushes against Dallas (last Monday) and [Chicago] made us pay. You can't give up that many odd-number rushes." Blashill has decided on a starting goaltender, but won't reveal whether Petr Mrazek or Jimmy Howard will play. Defenseman Brendan Smith, who has been a healthy scratch four consecutive games, could return to the lineup. "You're always disappointed when you don't get called in and you can't play," Smith told the Red Wings website. "That's just like everybody, if you don't get the job, or whatever, you're frustrated, and so what do you do to get that back? You work hard and you try to do your best to get that job back, and I'm getting that chance. So if I do get that chance, I want to give it everything and make sure I keep it."

Blackhawks team scope: Forward Marian Hossa will not play Sunday. Coach Joel Quenneville said Hossa, who has been sidelined since Feb. 13 because of a lower-body injury, will join the Blackhawks on their upcoming road trip and is "hopeful" he will play at the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday. Forward Brandon Mashinter did not practice Saturday because of an illness. Forward Marcus Kruger (wrist) will not play Sunday; he has been out since Dec. 17. Hossa and Kruger skated after practice Saturday. "I don't know what the number's going to be, but we expect him to be playing some games before [the season's] over," Quenneville said of Kruger. Crawford will start.
