A blackjack dealer named Roy Mariano, 52, who works for the Mohegan Sun casino in Connecticut ever since it opened in 1996, initially pleaded not guilty last week to cheating the casino he works for out of thousands of dollars. Mr. Mariano allegedly overpaid a player by $78,000 and faced charges on November 30, 2015 in the New London Superior Court.

hell there amigos... can someone with their brains still in their skulls can explain me how the hell did dealer manage to overpay that female player $78,390 by just sneaking $100 chip whenever she won a hand... that's just like only ~784 times when he sneaked a chip and no one from surveillance noticed that... and no pitboss has done the chip count and found that just a few $100 chips missing... just 780 chips or so...

Where is the problem? Less than 800 chips in 16 sessions, means an average of 50 chips every time they pulled the stunt. Doubtfull if this is noticed short term at a casino with a lot of players coming and going.
I would love to get this dealer in my local casino
I agree with shokaku though, I don't understand how they noticed such "small" losses over a pretty long period of time. But never underestimate the security of a casino, we have all seen movies where they bring you in a locked room in the back
I like when its the casino getting cheated instead of the casino cheating the players! lol

"Some of the surveillance videos also revealed that Mariano at times hid a $100 chip below a card used to cut the deck and then he slid it to Ms. Rivera."
this is line in the article , give us all the information we need .. he is most definitely guilty , they work together and hoping to get some money why in the world do they plead not guilty.. they gonna have to prepare to spend some years in prison

I suppose when the knew that he had cheated once they will review as much CCTV as they had on the guy but it was pretty stupid as he should have known that cheating in Vegas is just not tolerated and I expect he will be going to prison for this.

@shokaku- well from my own experience working in a casino i can tell you that paying even a single chip more to the customer, let alone of higher value (which are very meticulously counted by pitbosses) without attracting attention from surveillance staff is really hard and we are talking about 50 chips a session for 16 sessions?

A disabled dealer cheats on a casino. It's all strange to me that it's so easy to cheat a casino. That's how long it took them to make $ 100 steal more than 78 thousand dollars Haha

I have no idea how some mobsters find old threads who have 5-6 years to write a comment. That user looked him back until she found him? or maybe there is another way to navigate, because in 2019 - 2020 a Brazilian commented on many old threads.

this partnership was weak for the dealer from the beginning and when they got into trouble this woman blamed him. She forgets one thing because she is an accomplice and had to take responsibility for what she did. It is not nice to proceed as a snitch.

Scam attempts in the world of casinos are old and started from the beginning. It is harder now because of certain security services and other protections, but there are still people who steal until they are caught. I don't know if this situation will ever change.
