to be honest there's nothing unexpected here- every sport that is popular and has lots of money pumped into it is more or less corrupt. period. oh and btw tennis is actually one of the easiest sports to manipulate, since there are less dudes/duedettes involved... stop betting on matches and what do you know... you have yourself a truly clean sport.

With all the money bet on sports there is no doubts that some peoples would try to fixed the game in order to make money.

And sometimes they don't do that for them but for the mafia that know something on them and then just blackmail them and they have no choice of doing it.

In this case what was the real motive we will never know.

There are no sports that are could say that these kind of thinks does not happen in theirs. Aww crap! Aww crap!
