what do you guys think? ferguson or gordon?  0
Hi guys,
just wanted to hear your thoughts about two conflicting theories i came across...
One (gordon) the earlier your position, the bigger your initial raise.
Ferguson on the other hand says the exact oposite.
Now i can understand the logic behind both of em:
1st pos.: you have to get "through more people", so bigger raise
Ferguson says: a first position raise will get more respect, so it doesn't have to be as big...
What i make of it is gordon's tactic is better when playing with novices, whereas ferguson
is better on a table with more advanced players, as it takes into acount that an under the gun raise gets way more respect, so you assume the others have some knowledge of the game, and apply it automaticly.
Please tell me what you think, i was curious what other people would make of this...
Greets, and go make that money now! Big Smile

I think like you. With novices it's better to raise a lot. Smile

always RAISE OR RAERAISE IF TABLE IS VERY LOOSE OTHERWISE WAIT ....SLOWPLAY IS DELIICIOUS .......SOMETIMES DEADLY

im with you. novice players also known as ****`s have no respect for UTG going into hand at all because they themselves go into hand with everything from UTG.

I like ferguson more, i play sit n gos and with blinds at high level and you bet min raise from early pos its like ''call me mate i am not afraid''
When raising big its like ''i hope every1 fold and if not i have a good hand''

Thats my theory and it works Smile Smile Smile

But for cashgame it works not offcourse Aww crap!

doomdy: that's the exact logic behind it, but beginning players don't think "what is he thinking?" often, so...
Just came up with this one btw guys: Poker is like a girl: she can be soo sweeet, but can also drive you homocidal at times, yet you still love her Smile

I noticed at bubletime in sit n go when blinds are high, when big raise or allin you get more callers then min raise.
So i think for sure yes min raise has more respect Smile

Ferguson, cuz 1. He is Jesus. 2. He has a similar playstyle like mine =D

I think the min raise under the gun is lost on donks. they'll go: "oh it's just double"
whereas proper players will be scared by a min raise, cause it's "not kosher"...
If someone pops a min raise i'm worried more than a real raise, though i might call with a marginal hand in the bb at times, the sort of hand that has more chance of beating a top hand... j9 for example has a better chance of beating ak than a9...
ferguson says a smallish raise is the way to eliminate those hands. That might be the case when playing with realy good players, but not me Smile
whereas gordon's tactic will get me off the j9...

Depends on what you play and how tight you are in early position. If you only play your monsters from early positions you don't want to invite half the table to draw against your premium hands.
