I have some tickets for the $5,000.00 888freeroll and i find their prize structure very funny.
based on 9.7K players the first payment from 1,759 to 2.812 you get $0.30 from 1,000 to 1,758 you get $0.30 and this is not cumulative. I just don't understand the two level they should have make one level at $0.30 from 1,100 to 2,812.
Sometimes its sad when you see the structure of payouts,... I think some prizes they should skip,.. So other people get higher payouts...
Btw In the passed there were also happy players,...about prize structure And i am pointing out at the event sunday warm up 6 april 2014.
Here a little copy
Technical Error Results in $260k Overlay for PokerStars Sunday Warm Up A quarter of a million dollars of expected value was unexpectedly handed out after no late registration was enabled in the $500,000 guaranteed event.

I like the payout structure for tourneys at 888.com. You mustn´t Play many hours to win something and after the first levels the mniacs are out or chip leader, than you can Play serious in the following time. And a lot of layers have the Chance to win something.

I understand you but I think that 2-3 cents do not really change the life ... I do not like this tournament and all 888poker ... but I sometimes play there)) I do not know why ... just a lot of fun. .. today won the calendar ticket, will have more to play there))

they do it because the more paid positions, more satisfied players, although the amount is insignificant. the Pokerstars has the open league skill that pays $ 0.01 to 14 until 90 places. for what pay 0.01 ??? It is for nothing.

Probably the numbers of paid positions change along with the number of the participants. But when you add more positions you change the winnings accordingly from what im aware off This is not something that i have seen before. Maybe a bug in the software.
It's not necessarily a bad thing to make the prizes more top-heavy, but yeah it's weird.
If you win one one day you will be happy they made a structure like this. And a bunch of people will only have 30 cents instead of 60 cents, but it won't change a thing in their life

I play in this tournament , I can say that I do not like such a funny prize , I wrote to the forum for this , but let me tell you if you're a little patience , you will enter easily in the Top 100 , where larger prizes then you can seriously play win a few dollars , not cents

Patience pays in other things not poker. Unless you are going for the minimum payouts. There you can wait for a good hand to double you or more, hoping that your chips will last till the money. If you want to hit higher places you cant wait for ever the premium hands. Probably this is, what all those going all in preflop with K9 are thinking

I agree that you shouldn't worry too much about what you get (or don't get) for coming in 1723rd place. You should be focusing on getting as close to first place as you can... And at the very least achieving final table. Take a look at your game and accept that to win you must lose some. Change your approach and make some money.

I disagree with you.
Patience, emotional control and stay focused is part of poker too.
I did not say at any time that patience meant waiting with hands "premium". each has its range to play due to its position and etc. what I meant is that you can not get into the game of donkeys and fishes playing starting hands, calling all in all the time, paying all in, etc. you have to keep your strategy and know that at the beginning you can find anything in the hand of the enemy and take easily one bad. already in the final limits of the tournament, when have only experienced players, it is easier to play because you know that the incidence of donks and fishs moves will be much lower, increasing the effectiveness of your reading.

Well i agree with your points too, but on the other hand you cant call this patience in poker Strategy, game style etc. but i dont think this categorizes as patience It is just simple logic on how to play the game. At least this is my opinion.
