Live Rebuy Tournament  0
Hey guys, I've been invited to a Rebuy Poker Tournament. I think $20 rebuy is pretty high stakes do you? Any tips for rebuys? I heard lots of people gamble early to get a big stack, what should I do. Just buy in once for $20? I don't know, I'll try it out but don't really want to blow $120 in one night.

There's a poker tournament at my place, Friday October 24th (this Friday) at 7:30pm (cards dealt at 8pm).
Bringing friends is okay, RSVP if possible.

3 tables expected, but room for 4 if enough people show. Everyone may show, so come early to guarantee a seat.

No-limit Texas Hold'em
$20 buy-in for 1000 chips, 1 hour optional top-up, optional re-buy if knocked out in the first hour.
Blinds start at 10-20 and go up every 20 minutes

Top 4 players split the winnings 40-30-20-10% Anyone can win!

If you are not willing to rebuy, just don't play at all. In a rebuy tourney you have to be willing to gamble. If you are sitting there afraid to put your chips in, you are dead money.

i disagree. i've playd several rebuys and finish high despite only buying in once. i never rebuy more than once and only add on once during the break if i really need it. sure i tend to go out early quite alot of the time (more often than in regular tournaments) but the prizes are worth more even at the early stages of payouts.
i'v won more money than lost on rebuy tournaments by keeping a cool head, making good decisions based on the looseness of other players and making good use of low stack strategy if i need to after the rebuy period.
i think that ppl who spend 10 rebuys gambling trying to get a big stack at the beginning will ultimately end up with less. having a big stack early on doesn't guarantee a win.

I think it's a lot easier to win with a big stack. I don't know..I don't really want to gamble but I'll try to get in with the best of it. Wish me luck Smile

Anyone have tips for playing live? I've only played home games with people who don't know how to play Tongue

man you gotta learn to play live.you gunna find it hard to read cauz you play more online but that ok.play tight, and wait for good hands.be prepaired for the rebuy caller,so dont try bluffibg early if you to deep, people call and then just rebuy.if you made it past rebuy priod with ok stack, then you can treat it like any other tourney.one thing you will notice is the extra pressure of being stared at by other players in stead of a screen.so try not to think to muck, relax and enjoy playing with real people.one big tip, dont drink.one can sharpen your game, that ok,but anymore than that and the sharpness becomes drunkness and it all over 9/10 times.goodluck. Dollar Dollar Dollar Dollar
