Swedish gambling company Betsson announced last Thursday that it has acquired Lithuanian gaming firm Lošimų strateginė grupė, UAB, which trades by the better known name, TonyBet. TonyBet is mainly a sportsbook, operating both online and through 20 physical sports betting shops in the country, though it does have a small online poker room, as well.
Well again another merger poker rooms ... as I k5azhetsya it does not benefit ... there are always players who love to play in this poker room and then suddenly start changing .. and certainly there will be change and it will not go to the benefit of anyone besides hosts poker room ... sad example FullTilt poker

yep this happened, cannot say that this is a bad thing though. tonybet virtually has expanded as it could in the small market of lithuania, and if they had hopes of global expansion they either had to invest huge money themselves or join forces with some bigger brand who has more resources.

Fits in with the other Betsson operations. Besides the strenghening of the betting operations they gain the chinese poker offered at the online room. Even if this one never had that large player base.

I think this was a nice News, because i like the promos at Betsson. And more Players give the Chance that Betsson growth to a bigger Poker Room in the near furure. We will see. But we have to much small poker rooms without a chance against the big Networks.

Do they have what it takes to go global? Could they be competitive by their promos, odds and sports market selection? If not, then this buyout is not really about them going global rather than Betsson being strategic about their own baltic presence.

I know the first one. Remember some news about it when a player won ahuge jackpot there by paying like nothing Probably they are after the physical shops expansion there. Not a bad move. You never know what goes with online gambling.

Both Betsson and TonyBet have been operating within the MPN (formerly Microgaming Network), one of the most reputable online gaming establishments in the world. The negotiation between two companies seems to have reached a peaceful and satisfactory settlement.

this can be good or bad for players, depend what strategy in future will betsson have and how this will affect on their promos, offers and other things and how many players from tonybet will stay on their company!too many questions and who know what will happen!

I am fairly sure that has nothing to do with this purchase since MPN has a very limited userbase as a poker network, they main source of income is the license fees after their casino games...
