It's smart if you did it. He probably thought that he would not discover it. We have plenty of examples where this happens. In all leagues it works, just as a country to do everything by the law, and in some countries the football mafia stronger than the state or cooperate with state officials, but when after Furnished matches out on the Euro scene, drop some clubs that never we have not heard ...
I think such situations happen all the time. Most of such bets never go out in public so we are not aware of them, but illegal betting, so called insider betting in sports is very big business and in many ways it is ruining the sport. Human nature is greedy and there is a lot of money to be won in illegal betting.
