It was Saturday morning, June 10, when an elderly Brooklyn woman unsuspectingly opened her door to what she thought were just two well-meaning Jehovah's Witnesses and ended up getting robbed of her briefcase which contained $100,000 worth of her casino winnings.
NYPD police said that at 9:50 a.m., the robbers tricked Yvonne Reeder, age 76, into opening her home in East New York to two men after s[...] Read more » Grandmother robbed of her casino winnings worth $100K

She added, "Why? Why would people do that? That doesn't make sense...it still hasn't sunk in." ... not exactly sure but i think a briefcase stuffed with $100,000 might have something to do with this...

This is a particularly nasty crime and i hope that these guys get caught very quickly. I dont know why she would keep such a massive amount of money in the house and i hope she gets over this.

Wow i can say that this is a rich grandmother, I am not a young guyntoo but don't have $100,000 in my house. Any bigger money I have is in bank so there is no risk that someone break into house and take my money, and this is what this grandmother should have done too I think.

Why do you keep in your house a briefcase with all that money in. For five years? Five years?. I thought it was recent winnings and she didnt have the time, to go to the bank, or it was closed when she got it. Big mistake.
A strange grandmother ... probably she does not trust banks and keeps her money at home .... and at some point these two criminals have found out about this and decided to commit a crime .... I hope that they will soon be found and sent to jail
I do know some people who keep some big amount of money in their house but not that huge sum, about $1000-$5000... well all I can say is that I hate this, I could never do this... how can you sleep well when you have your big money in your house which is never 100% secured and safe...

If the truth was wrong with having all that money in your house instead of having deposited it in a bank, since nowadays theft is the most common lately ... and more older people than most of the time How to defend against these attacks because many live alone, although I would not know if it is so in other countries regarding mine ... I hope justice is done and I can recover their money.
Is this fake news?? like trump vs the f.b.i. we all know what went down a huge involvement with Russian hacking intelligence rigging the election results for Mr.trump. I don't understand how or why a senior citizen would keep this large amount of cash in a briefcase and not deposit into a bank account.

This incident happened in Brooklyn, one of the five boroughs of New York City. There are more poor people in Brooklyn than the entire population of Detroit, Michigan. Yet there are more wealthy people in Brooklyn than in Greenwich, Connecticut. I believe that the coexistence of wealth and poverty is the root of the problem.

That was my idea too. They went straight for the suitcase, so they had some tip about that money. Five years in a bank, it would have given her some interest, since it was a considerable amount. Back to playing slots again

The explanation seems to me very simple ..... my grandmother did not trust the banks and was afraid to lose this money .... but unfortunately she still lost them all .... maybe it will be for her a lesson, although at this age it is probably impossible

At first, it was verry interesting to read, that the elderly woman was gambling in a casino The robbery was bad, off course, but it seems she have a plan to win another time in the casino with her strategy

If it could be that the casino hired people to go to the house of the lady and steal the money but the truth I do not think it was there like that, but it makes you doubt or that it is strange that they knew of the money ... fence To know what happened really haha
