The plan for the first day of the 2017 WSOP Main Event final table was play down to 6 players, however, the eliminations took very long and tournament organizers finally called it a day at around 11:00 pm, when only 2 players had been sent packing. The two unfortunate players not to make it through the first day were Ben Lamb (9th for $1,000,000) and Jack Sinclair (8th for $1,200,000).

Scott Blumstein as a heck of a chip lead and must be odds on fav to win this thing. But, even though he has a massive lead, it wouldnt surprise me if someone came out of the pack and won it

OMFG! What was John Hesp thinking? Did he put Scott Blumstein on Ace King or Ace Queen on the turn? Top two pair is not the nuts! Blumstein could have slow played a set of aces, sevens, or fives on the flop, setting up a trap.

Yes very big amount of chips to the leader now and I think it will be very hard for any other players to catch him, but when top 3 left and even more when only 2 players left things can change because it takes a few allin and some luck and chips can go to other player

a nicely played hand from blumstein, kinda opportunistic play from hesp imho, not a big poker pro myself, but i think that to put so many of your chips into a hand where you just have a top pair with top kicker when there is a difference in millions if you finish say 7th or 8th and 3rd or 4th and he had a serious stack before this hand...

Our Argentine representative Damian Salas managed to get among the 7 best with a cautious game and without achieving hands premiun, in which in the only strong hand that I link with AQ was convinced to fold it with much reason.-

runner runner ....hes saving all his luck for a late push on day3
the blumstien vs hesp hand was a culmination of how hesp has been playing and the back to back losing hands he had. he built an image where if any over card was on the board he would fold his pair even after raising pre flop. so he finally had the bigger pair - which was the last A in the deck and so could of been trying to gain as much as he could from that image he had created
Scott Bloomstein certainly will probably win this tournament and 2017 WSOP Main Event will be marked as the easiest title win ... initially to be a chip leader with a huge advantage and eventually in the finals to break all

i am just thinking what the hell would i do with such a massive chip lead in this situation, push the limit or try to play it safe and be guaranteed of at least a top 3 finish and some serious cash. sure it's a big difference between 1st and 2nd or 3rd, but if you go to loose you can finish even 7th

Posted by Mober: Indeed professional or not is not easy at all to reach the final table with that many entries. So who ever reaches that point, for sure deserves it.
The difference between e in prize money is only 200k USD That difference only is a fortune for the most of us
You are very right the difference in money 8th and 9th place is only 200 k $ but buy in of this tournament he is also very high. With 200k I buy two houses in my country and these houses are good, not bad. It's great to play a Pokerstars satellite to get a tournament and there to win 100 k or more. A wonderful sensation.
