On Wednesday night, Dan "jungleman12" Cates made a surprising announcement while he was on Doug Polk's podcast regarding his tribulation that started back in 2010 with fellow pro poker player Tom "durrrr" Dwan.
The Durrrr ChallengeThe durrr challenge is an open dare to the online poker community offered by high-stakes player Tom Dwan. Basically the structure is 3-1 on this bet: That over 50,000[...] Read more » Tom Dwan already paid Daniel Cates over $700,000 in Penalties from 2010 Durrrr Challenge

well this is kinda strange situation really, I just wonder if this is mathematically wise thing from dawn to do, almost a cool million now accumulated in form of penalties probably he should've finished the challenge me ponders this would be a +ev action

Like poker isnt good enough to gamble away that amount of money, they need to create some "special" games. Weird story here, that is going on for too long now. First time i ever heard about it. He should have finished the game in the first place.

Hello my fellow mobsters
These guys are totally crazy they make to much money on trhe cash tables onhigh-roller tables at the asian casinos (so it`s reported Tom makes is living there) that they allow themselfs to make this kind of outside games Seems like a battle of egos and testosterone anyway is nice to see the paying of the bet no matter how crazy the bet was

Is still talking about Tom "durrrr" Dwan that he does not have much money. It may be true but he proves it is a big gentleman. 700.000 dollars in penalties for dan cates it's not easy. His character is great in this problem. Interestingly, Tom Dwan he lost a pot of 20 million in macau. An amount of money that arranges you for life. This is terrible. Respect Tom Dwan

Its really nice to see that Tom Dwan seems to be doing the decent thing and, at least, paying some of the prize. He has been getting a lot of bad press of late and this makes a nice change

Everytime this thing is going to be forgotten, one of the guys involved comes up with some kind of update of the situation. But i guess this challenge is no longer of any interest for the general poker public.
50,000 hands of course it's a lot of games .... but if you play constantly and do not think about it then maybe it will pass unnoticed ... and of course a million dollars as a prize is a nice figure for so many .... interesting news

I actually had no idea what the “Durrrr Challenge” was until I read this article. Both Tom “durrrr” Dwan and Dan “jungleman12” Cates are an accomplished high stakes poker player. I am wishing them both the best of luck.

This is, or better, this has been, the second durrrr challenge. The first one was between Dwan and Patrick Antonius. But that one run quite smoothly in comparably short time, with Dwan coming out ahead.

Well I see that nobody is saved from those things haha sooner or later the trial comes haha but it is nice to play so that 3 - 1 would have good profits but everything depends on how is the other player and silver that I play at there nor by F**k I got to that amount lol

I kinda begin to think that this has become more like a promotional tool for the both of dudes involved, this story just pops up out of the blue at some point and does attract some headlines, I guess this attention is useful for dawn and cates.

Maybe for Cates. He still playes online and in the US of A, so he might attract more action. But Dwan has dissapeared to Macao, and no longer plays online (as far as i know), but only in the live games there.

I hear about this durrr challenge a lot of times and it is very old thing, i remember when I played on full tilt poker i saw this challenge is going and this was so long time ago, years and years and they still can't finish this, shame to tom dwan he is the problem in this situation
I'm not surprised that he is paying him money to buy out of the challenge. Tom "durrr" Dwan may be a degenerate gamble and he probably thought he was unbeatable at that point. I'm sure reality caught up to him.
Good thing they were able to sort that out. Good luck to both of them.
