just wanted to know peoples thoughts on 2 points, the first raising pre flop with pkt As, the second showing your bluff after a winning hand, im not a great player but here are my thoughts on the issues, (pkt As) i dont raise pre flop unless there has been a decent raise prior, (bluff show) and i know its rude but i do like to show my bluff (the 1 in 10000 it comes off lol) allthough i consider it rude when someone shows me?

I always raise pocket As preflop, in tournements & sit & go's I even go all-in preflop (big chanche someone will call ) I don't bluff very often but i would never show my hand afterwards because i'm afraid no one will take me serious again after that Blink
I don't know if it's rude but it is VERY annoying if someone shows a bluff wile you realy had some sort of a hand Aww crap!

Your not a great player now you know why Blink

Allways raise preflop AA (sometimes limp in early position when table is really agressive).
Never show a bluff.

Goodluck Blink

Ok here's my thoughts;

I rarely just limp AA Pre flop - I raise a lot pre flop anyway so when I raise with AA most think I've still got rubbish and I rarely limp into a pot so when I do people get suspicious. Not what I want with a monster.

Times I do like to limp are:

If someone behind me raises every hand or if I'm in the small blind and everyone has folded. I hate to play aces multi way so if I know someone will raise behind me I can just reraise to isolate and if it's just me and the big blind then I know it's just the 2 of us.

I don't think it's rude to show hands but some do get tilted if you show them a bluff. I don't show many hands just cause I don't like to give away info for free but will show hands to set up plays later. Here are some of the times I'll show.

If I know that someone will tilt if I show them a bluff then I'll show them.
If my big hands are not getting payed off then I'll bluff more and show 1 or 2 of them.
If I'm getting no respect at the table I'll show them an occasional big hand .

All the times I show there is a good reason for me to show and I remember what I have showed so that I know what my table image is.

If there is no good reason I never show, But people do show because they want to say to the table " look aren't I clever - I can bluff ". Playing poker with your ego is never a good idea IMO

couldnt agree more with the bluff show, on the raise part, i do notice a lot of pro"s limping in with monster hands, in tournaments anyway. someone once said to me if you arnt prepared to raise then dont call?? not that it has anything to do with the post, i just thought id slip it in.

Sometimes I'd realy like to show my bluff. But most of the time it is smarter to not show it. And with pocket Aces I raise pre-flop most of the time.

next time you got a big hand he will think you bluff. but generaly i never show my hand if i dont have to.
and with pocket aces i play varying. UTG i sometimes just call in hope someone will raise so i can reraise. its dangerous tho, yesterday ive seen phil ivey on german tv losing with AA to 4 8 pair because he only limped. normaly that guy would have never watch the flop with 4 and 8.
but mostly i raise

Slowplaying aces is only a good idea if you can be sure that someone down the road will raise, so you can come over the top. You don't want half the table to try and draw out on you.

people never learn, raise, reraise,go allin, only way to playAA.never, ever, ever slowplay.best if you can get players heads up with AA.only ever show royal flushs Blink

if there r 2 hands i wouldnt play without raising preflop its AK or AA....
i will never limp with KK either there is no point in playing them if u just call that is just plain stupid u might as well fold.. live straddle with the pocket rockets gives the rest of the ppl a chance to draw u out
if u raise n every1 folds at least u pick up the blinds but if u call n some guy wins with 72o i would b quitting poker ...

as far as showing the bluff goes i dont show it usually but sometimes when i dont like the guy i will try 2wice as hard to bluff him out n wen i do i will so love to rub it in his face...
if even 1 guy goes on tilt koz of my bluff i believe its been a good day Big Smile Big Smile Big Smile Big Smile

i guess its all down to how big the blinds are really, say its early in a tourament and you get the monster im only minumum raising if any, i know its wrong but you want to get paid and getting just the blinds sucks and if you get out drawn then so be it, if your talking after the second break then yeah 2 or 3 times the big blind with your finger on the reraise button, 2 or 3 times the big blind at that time in a tourament should take care of any marginal hands.

if u go allin with aces at any point in the tournament n get sucked out with whatever hand... at least u know u made the right move going in with the best possible hand preflop sure u didnt finish in the money.. but poker is not always about finishing in the money its more about making the right decision and avoiding mistakes so in the long run ur winnings r more than losses...
i still dont get the part y u minimum raise its itha call or go over the top...

say 4 example u get aces n u raise minimum in the real early stages of the tournament n u dont have a good enuff read on any1 say u get 1 caller n u have position on him the flop comes up 77K n the guy goes all in would u lay ur aces down that would b a very tough decision huh???

well thats the risk you take trying to get more action, remember its called gambling, a lot of people seem to forget that, and if the flop did come 77k and i was called all in then i would fold, so what, what have you lost, nothing, or a very small blind??

poker is soooo not gambling or else the pros that we c on tv wont b consistent winners n millionaires if it was gambling how can they win everytime.. well it may be classified under gambling but at the end of the day its nothing like roulette or pokie machines etc...
main thing involved with gambling is luck n those ppl who play poker praying to get good cards never win they might have 1 or 2 big wins on their lucky day but over the years the losses will be far more than the wins... not saying there is no luck involved but maybe like 5% is luck

well we have a diff perspective of looking at things... but i still dont agree the way u would play aces

WHAT, ARE YOU INSANE lol, make no mistake about it poker is gambling, everytime you place a blind or enter a buy in for a tournament your gambling, sorry thats one of the strangest things ive ever heard.
