A lot of slot games have very similar engines, with only the graphics seperating the different games. And a new game, is a new game, even if the changes are small. Quite obviously slotaholics crave for new games, so the software companies deliver.
Not sure if this was really long awaited, but who knows it anyway... NetEnt nowadays just spewing out this new but kinda old games. All has the same payout structures and win lines.

These guys at the online casino or the poker rooms little cares why graphics have these games. They are only interested in making money. It is easier for all to put a couple of changes to a game, making it a sequel and naming it 1, 2 3 etc than creating a new game from the scratch. It adds to the volume of games a site has, which matters after all, in blinding the players with many choices
