In a recent video on Instagram, Finnish poker legend Patrik Antonius opened up about the rough time he's currently going through while in Las Vegas playing the biggest cash games.
After winning steadily at the $2/$4k and $3/$6k games, things turned sour when the table made the decision to increase the blinds to a staggering $6k/$12! Besides losing about half a million dollars and his entire bankr[...] Read more » A Nightmare For Patrik Antonius

You can't always be lucky at the poker tables and every player has good and bad times. It is bad when this happens but you can't make a profit on every game. Patrick has a bad time at poker and now, if his dog died, he will have a short period in which he will be sad. This is the life with good or bad things.
Wait a minute? 500k was his whole bankroll or just the money he sat down with to the table? Either way sitting down playing high roller cash games with less than 100BBs under your wing could lead to results like this anyway so I dunno wdat he was expecting...

yes, they made mistake maybe about this few words, that he lost entire bankroll!probably they mean that he lost everything that he had on table, not on bank account!but no matter what it is,its big lost for him,its not easy to lose 500 K $ and then to be normal and to play agian!
Posted by crankmuppet: I read this and cried and cried and cried over this incredibly rich person's one evening of bad fortune! Seriously though, sorry about his dog.
Yeah, it's a weird article - dunno where I suppose to feel sorry for him. Wish I had problems like this.

What can we say here. Decisions, decisions. He could have stayed away after the blind increase, or not even playing at all keeping the money in his pockets. But they say in order to make money you have to spend some. Lets see when he is gonna get it back

wow lost half a million dollars ... and I complaining about losing a few dollars in my bad streak. the truth is that even the greatest professional players can have bad days. This leaves me with optimism for my next session. See you at the tables.
Considering he lives in Monaco I guess 500k isn't super huge for him but still, if you go on a long down swing at these kind of stakes it can certainly be brutal. Patrik Antonius is a solid player but even the best players lose when the wrong card comes at the wrong time. Sometimes it feels like you can't win a hand, and sometimes you win every single hand. That's pokher I guess!
Sad about his dog but when your dog is 10 years+ you have to be mentally prepared to lose your friend. These guys really don't live as long as we do

I do not understand when you compare the fact that he lives in Monaco if Monaco is in France then it means that everyone who lives in Monaco has a lot of money or a lot of money has lost half a million $ 500,000 is a lot of money. So if you know I would live in Dubai I could understand but in Monaco there is not much difference

I also don't think anyone will have fun after losing half a million dollars, whether you're a Chinese millionaire or an Arab millionaire. He also published in his instagram that he felt sad because he had lost that amount and also his dog had died. a pity for the hopefully he will recover soon

I don't know if Patrick Antonius was ever ruined since he became famous but it would be a drama for him if would lose all his wealth. It is ugly when a professional player is ruined and he will have to recover somehow. If he does not succeed then he will have to find a job somewhere.

To be honest, I think the worse thing for him was that he lost his dog. The money probably isn't worth as much to him as the memories he has if him and his dog. Sure, it was a lot of money and that must feel terrible, but I'm sure a skilled player like him can get it back if he just can get his emotions in check.

Exactly that is what I mean. It is one thing to spend at a party and know that that money was spent and another very different is to play poker wanting to win because no one bets to lose, no matter how million the ego you are the ego and nobody wants to feel bad losing.

Any professional poker player is not happy when he loses $ 500,000. They do not think about the amount they lost. They think about how much they would have run with that money and that they could have been for profit. Most players regret this and a professional player said this.
