And most importantly, they are right archaeologists determined the purpose of all the artifacts that they found in this dungeon .... It seems to me that in connection with this news it is necessary to lift the ban on gambling in Russia .... this is a sign ..... This is an obvious sign for this Big Smile

Well I have no doubt that had I live in the 17th century Russia I too would have been a law breaker. I know I would have gambled. I think that people should be allowed to gamble if they damn well want too. no matter where they live. People also must be made to pay there gambling debts.

Just think about Dostoevsky, buddy. He was an avid gambler and lost multiple fortunes playing roulette in Russia. Even wrote a novel about it to pay of some of his debts.

So it certainly goes to show that the view of russians and how they play poker has some interesting information here given that we now know they have been playing the game for hundreds of years in an underground passageway gives them lots of skills to use and abuse those players from other countries who are not so adept at the fine art that is poker.

I know that people gamble for so many centuries and this isnt new,but didnt expect that they had such a strict law in russia in that time and that this could happen to you:
The unlucky ones caught gambling were either flogged or had their ears cut off!
this says all!

Russia in general is a rather harsh country in terms of punishments for various offenses .... and even more so if it happened in the 17th century when people were treated rather lightly in human life and human health .... This person now has some rights and freedom in those years everything was much worse and stricter .... but nonetheless, gambling people were always .... they were not afraid of any terrible punishments

I read that the roulette game was invented in 1796 in France and the slot games in 1891. It is interesting to find a casino from the 16th century but for now it is not known exactly what was in that place. It could have been a manor house, not a casino.

Gambling isnt something new out there. It has been like for ever.
So finding a casino that old is not a surprise actually Smile
And of course that casino was illegal at the time.
I bet there are more of these establishments today, not only in russia,
but all over the world. Gambling... Smile

in general, if we talk about different laws in different countries over different times, then we will see a lot of ridiculous and harsh laws that punishment does not correspond to a crime .... but our society developed and some branches of evolution went the wrong way the rest of the civilized world .... therefore, it seems to me especially not worth wondering .... this is normal

There are always laws against casino owners or against players and here i refer most to taxes. These situations, they have been set up a lot of clandestine casinos and these exist even today in many places of the world. This case from Russia can be one of them or not.

you absolutely say that now in Russia there is a huge number of illegal casinos .... which exist in such a way that corruption helps to counteract the law .... of course, these casinos are periodically closed so that it is visible that there is a fight against illegal casinos ..... But of course, in such a corrupt country like Russia, it is absolutely impossible to completely stop it .... absolutely impossible !!!!!!

Russia - and mainly the russian aristocracy - was always heavily influenced by France even during and after the Napoleon Wars up until the bolsheviks took over the country a hundred years ago.
So its not unusual to be find places like this still there tbh.

It's true, guys and people have always tried to find ways to avoid the state and for that they have improvised many illegal businesses. This year I read a news story here in BRM when some Americans were caught organizing illegal gambling. This illegal industry has existed in many places of the world, in the past or now and that very good movie Molly's Game from 2017, is an example.
