On Friday March 20, UK casinos and betting shops have been ordered to close effective immediately, as part of the government's effort[...]   Read more » UK Casino Industry Now Included in Coronavirus Rates Relief

Do you can see that? Few days ago we was discussing about the people (me included) that was deflecting the conversation from the poker issues that proposed the news, to talk about covid19. Now all the news are about covid19...Like all the goverments says "a dinamic situation"! But is true that Boris had a crazy actitude inicially about the diseas. Is the the seal of neoliberals: "First the echonomy, then the people"

This 100% business rate relief for a year is a good measure they took , besides other packages of decisions to help the betting industry and employees , ofcourse the same in other sectors or businesses . UK is doing great in helping employees and businesses this corona virus times , a good example for other countries to follow . But all these betting shops closed , the local casinos closed , sport events cancelled or postponed , betting companies lose so many profits , economical damages and losses overally for the months to come cannot be avoided .

The UK has moved hard with measures against coronavirus and now more politicians have been taking the virus. Here are more than 14,500 confirmed cases and at least 759 people have died. The reality is different... because more victims died from other flu & illnes and that doesn't make normal life to resume.

Here in Argentina, the goverment is taking steps to assist all sectors, not only the poors or the employes. Also the people who lives with his daily works, like street traders, cab drivers, and self-employed who, with isolation, cannot raise a minimum income to live. Is the first time in my long life that I can see a President with the 95% of approval

UK is a rich country , UK government has enough money to support not only the businesses , but also the employees . I read they pay them 80% of their salary now that some or many of them cannot go to work (in businesses like cafeterias , pubs , clubs , or other mkind of businesses ) . I don't know for how long they will bbe able to support so much everyone , I hope until the crisis is over . An outbreak can last 6 months , 1 year , at the worst cases two years (I hope it lasts one two months and be over , we had enough of this chunese MF virus .... Btw , everytime one virus , new or not , will be causing many deaths , problems , fears . The cientist who will discover the vaccine or medicine not only for one virus but foe all , he must be glorified and adored like a God , human being will have defeated its greatest enemy )

Ofcourse for poor countries things are bad or very bad , governments cannot or don't want to help evry poor as far as it concerns his insurance , salary , health , etc . There only the rich have secured their future and survival , this always happens .

Casinos and betting shops in the UK have the protection of the powerfull UK government . In other countries things are worse . I believe things will get better in the near future , people will be relieved of this virus , businesses of all kind , casinos included , will operate again like in the past more or less .

The truth will eventually be found in future and the world will be very upset that this coronavirus has been a worldwide act of terrorism. Covid 19 is not so dangerous but what the governments of the many countrie have done, it will cause people to claim compensation for it.

Well, the matter here is about the system, is not about how many money have an economy. The question is how it be share or distributed. Some "rich" goverment is taking decisions that prioritizes the health of his companys and economies over the health of the people. They ask to their elderly to allow their death. They ask to the people that get used to the idea that members of his family will die, because they don´t want to stop the business...

Yes I agree , it's not about being rich ONLY like the UK state . But it is obviously imortant to have wealth, especially in developed societies , like those of Western Europe .
Most of the state's income will go to industries , businesses directly or indirectly (via investments or constructions ) to support the production (or just give them to some very rich guys because they are powerfull Blink ) , or to pay salaries of workers in the public state sector .Small proportion only goes for healthcare or support of the poor or the seasonal workers or the ones with no jobs at all , for social care humanitarian measures or purposes .

The richer a country is the more options the government has , the more it can help potencially .
Ofcourse the will to help then is needed , cause even if they have a tone of money , like in some major petrelium productive counties , such as Saudi Arabia , others in Middle East , South America ,etc , they don't care so much for their people or don't help them at all . And if they don't care in normal/peace times , in times of crisis of public health or war or anything else they will do nothing .

So most important is the society to be developed and have progress , then the government/system to have interest , therefore the will to help , and then the more wealthy they are , the more they will help their citizens , such as UK does . UK government has all this money (at least for now ) , the will to help (at least for now) the private sector' s employees by paying 80% of their salary , the businesses like casinos or sportberting companies and many more companies , etc. Poor countries , even if they have the will to help the market businesses or the poor people in these coronavirus times , they don't have many options , so they don't help much the ones they need mostly this aid .....

The pandemic has an impact in everything and everywhere.
All countries are in "salvation" mode trying to do their best, to avoid the worst.
If we are still in the beginning as they are saying, then it is only get worst.
And besides staying healthy, you need an income to do so also...
One year paid in full, is more than welcome i believe,
If only the rest of the countries could do so also...

If I am not mistaken , sportbetting businesses in the UK , also other betting companies , are of the best worldwide , if not the best in all terms , all these years . Many profits , their owners must have accumulated a lot of wealth . the law and tax system allow these beeting businesses to be flourishing . Now I don't know if sth has changed in the near past , but I wouldn't believe these changes might be very hard for these companies .

So , with all these prifits that they have earned so far , the $$$$ help they receive now from the goverment , and the fact that when things go back again to normality this protection by the state and the betting behavior of the British will probably be the same , they can wait imo for this crisis to be over , and then get back to action . For all other businesses , especially some very small pubs,,clubs , cafeterias , restaurants , cloths-shops , etc , I don't know the consequences , especially if this crisis lasts for very long time , many months or even more than a year ........Ofcourse everyone wishes this crisis to end asap Smile

I understand you antoni321, you are looking one dimension of the system with the logic of: more money = better society. But I make you a question; is Cuba a rich and developed country? Why they have some of the best health and education systems of the world? Why they go to help to Italy when all his european partners turn their faces to his desperate request for help?

The United Kingdom has left the European Union of World Mafia because those who are bosses there are puppets. Merkel, Macron and her friends would to be arrested. My opinion is that they are trying the Kalergi plan ( to destroy Europe ). Now it has been seen how much solidarity is in the 27 Member States...

they are have lot of betting companies and everything about gambling,so this will affect lot on them, because there a so many betting shops and casinos,so you can imagine how many people work in industry and what they will lose!not to say about football that is stopped and what clubs will lose!

Ofcourse it will affect them , so many businesses of this kind there , all those people working at these shops or businesses . But UK government is willing to help them , it has the means ($$$$$$$) to do this , so they will find some comprehension and relief for the next months . Now if this crisis lasts for many months , I can't predict whether UK goverment will still be able to help them , or if these worlkers will still be able to pay for the necessary means to live .
As I said , these businesses are rated as very important in the UK , so they will find they way to recover when this crisis is over , imo .

I don't believe I said sth like this . i said they have the will to help people , at least for now , and ALSO they have the means to do it , meaning the national treasury . If you want to help but you can't , because of no wealth , good will is not enough . On the other hand , some counties have a lot of money , but they don't help their citizens .

I evaluate as way far better the civilised , advanced , developed countries , who have the
INTEREST to help their citizens by some or many means , so as these citizens to feel secure and able to keep on studying , working , creating , in order for this society to stay great and developed and maintain its WEALTH .

In contrast to states like Cuba , fake democracies , fakely re-public (but actually totalitarian) regimes , which , in the best scenario , might take some measures to ensure the healthcare of their citizens , but in reality they dgaf for them , only aspirin kind of measures , the healthcare quality (despite propaganda) is not the same as the one the richest guys have , they have discriminations , lack of freedom and real opportunities for the people to do sth great in life , they maintain the poor people like sheep : '' work like slaves , recive pennies , but don't worry .. we'll provide to you free education , also keep you alive '' , more or less....

If the people were paid more or far more in Cuba , they could do far more things in their lives , have more opportunities , they would be able to pay for their healthcare or insurance , then the state would let the citizens look after themselves . better and more ...

Now they can't , if they don't offer this halthcare , the system WON'T WORK , it will FAIL .
Then the rich guys won't have all those sheep to workfor them like ''modern times '' slaves .
They need these low class workers' hands , they need the poor not to die but have the ability to stay alive , send their children to be educated , then it will be their turn to work for pennies and serve the regime's plutocracy .
When the regime won't need them , it will let them die .

But in a developed country , with real wealth , like the UK or USA , people have more REAL opportunities in life , to succeed , to feel overally secure in life , to have the chances for optimal , not just standard , healthcare , to become wealthy or very rich , to change their social status and class someday , not remain sheep anslaves for ever , like in Cuba . Not remain sheep for ever for the shake of a free education or healthcare , so as the regime's hyper class , the same people , without any change , keep on maintaining their status and privileges FOR EVER .......

Ofcourse there are many problems in developed countries as well , many poor , many discriminations , etc . But there is also a dynamic for changes , creations , development , progress , achevements , new social classification , recognition and reward for your value , more chances for the BEST medical healthcare , standards of life , way of living .
In times of crisis , these developed countries will have far better chances to survive with the fewer possibly losses and recover , they can protect their citizens more , better .

Talking about free (basic) care , without very good reason and interest to do so , just because of humanitarian , ideological , ''better state regime or system '' propaganda reasons , is naive , stupid , or most of the times , just fake with bad intentions for the ones who will believe this cr*p .

Smile

This seems like the same chat trough different threads, I´m don´t trying that but you are the last writer…I don´t try that because we don´t think in the same way, and I don´t want to make a discussion between opposite ways to understand the world and the history. You deny the virus crown, protests against the measures that stop the economy, you think that a tyranny governs in Cuba ... I can guess that you very much agree with Donald Trump!

Maragatero my friend, you will see that this coronavirus is weak and people who die from other diseases are passed with coronavirus. Economy must be restarted and casinos same. People tot work because we need money for our expenses. In my country, a family refused money from the hospital to put COVID 19 cause of death of his father who was old... Don't be scared of this lie.

If you think that I agree with Donald Trump maragatero , then it's clear you have no idea what you're talking about ...

You are still misreading my thoughts . Either you are biassed or you don't get the meaning of what I say . If you believe that everything in Cuba is right , I suggest you go there and live the rest of your life , just to have this social healthcare or whatever , and I wish you good luck , you're going to need it there .

You know , nothing is free in this world completely , there is always a catch .
You see the cheese , but you don't see the trap ......
