Tip of the day: Do not play PLO against Ben Grundy

When you have a look at the stats of the British Omaha specialist Ben Grundy you will hardly believe your eyes. He has hardly even had two losing sessions in a row over the whole year and he has been accused of being a "super user" several times (which is not the case). Ben Grundy recently published his results for the year of 2008. Grundy have played 34 036 hands in 2008 and he has made a profit[...]   Read more » Tip of the day: Do not play PLO against Ben Grundy

I should put myself some goals too for next year & see how it will go. Never did that before so maybe it's a very good thing.

I wonder what Ben Grundy(FTP)+All Aliases means, anyone.

I have one goal too, nothing big, keep all of my poker office profit stats in green and over +10BB/100 hands. Now that I finally gave up on casinos those stats could finally start to reflect my bankroll balance.

tbh I have watched and followed quite a lot of Ben's hands, lets face it hes pretty much a fish who gets lucky at the rigth time! some of the hands he raises n plays reraises of........ but hey it works, hes one of 1 in a million player who fishes bad hands, gets lucky n makes alot of money! it works for him but I am certain others would not be so lucky adopting his game play, i.e fish, fish, fish and a little more fish!

No fish is lucky entire year without help. No way. I never watched him play a single hand but stats should count for something. In Omaha it is more important to know what range of cards are your opponents likely to play than Hold`em and if you can manage that you are about to have graphs pointing skywards too. It may look fishy but in fact it is just a mastered Omaha play. Even in Hold`em knowing what Your opponent might have from your out cards can give you the edge sometimes, especially in pots with 3+ players.

In Omaha 3+ players on flop are common situation and they are holding 12+ out of the 52 cards in their hands and folding on flop rather than turn or river can save you lot of money in PL Omaha. Figure the math yourself if you don`t trust me.

No one can get lucky over so many hands.

Maybe you are judging his play based on your experience with holdem. But omaha is different. Value of draws vs made hands changes a lot.
