why is it that every time i'm playing a hand, some "maverick" raises and i'll be one card short of a flush or straight(sometimes both!)and when i call,lo and behold, my card ain't there But if i fold,it'll be there 9 times outta 10....does this regularly happen or is it just me???

Well,I dont that is just you and that card only come when you fold!its just that luck!sometimes you fold small pair because of big preflop raise and you get three of kind on flop!

No it is not just you. Poker is a cruel game and sometimes for a long long time you will not hit your draw and always when you fold it would hit either straight, flush or full house.
